Clint showing why he will always be a useful member of the squad. The dude scores important goals. Not pretty but effective. Ade perking up in the last few weeks is most welcome. Would have been lovely had it happened a month or two earlier but hopefully he can get another next week.

Maybe those 2 dropped pts at Wigan come back to haunt us but I personally think if we can get the 3 pts next week, we'll make it. Just one draw and assnal fall short. Please, let it happen just fucking once. Just this one time FFS.
Sorry, agree. Fat thumb

And with one game left, we have the same amount of points we got last season. AVB will have done better that we did last year, wherever we finish

I've got to say, I've been on Clints back alot during games this season (heat of the moment yadda yadda) but I thought he was brilliant today. He was moving about making runs pulling their defenders out of position, the kind of stuff any decent striker should do, but has been a big part of our problem this season. Little to no movement infront of the ball-carrier. He also provided a great finish in a situation which looked pretty easy to fuck up, and a great assist for Ade. MOM for me, thanks Clint!

"It's disappointing because I watch football day in, day out and you see some challenges that don't even get bookings, then you see two challenges like that one today getting a sending-off," noted Pulis.

More than any other team, Stoke deserve to get relegated.
Not brave enough like Swansea, Wigan, Villa to actually play football they employ a "manager" (whose Net Spend is incredibly high) who gets his team to play negative tactics, in front of fans that boo and whistle when we decided to play the ball around.
So many sports teams go this route...get in a coach or manager to use defensive tactics to negate any offensive threat from opposition (i.e. The Trap in hockey). It's "I can't rise to your level so i'm gonna drag you down to my level" at its most basic form.
Absolutely repugnant and gutless.
...and for their fans to act as though we'd slaughtered children with a pitchfork in front of them when we won anything...what form of life are they?
Next year i will have 2 hopes:
1) we do well
2) Stoke implodes in a black hole to never be seen again...(the club and the collection of housing that they think is more than a backwoods inbred village).

Completely agree. Today they did all they could to destroy the game, fouls, negative tactics and trying to bully us out of the game. I was actually impressed today. It is a tricky place to go and we dominated and had a few chances that could have made it comfortable. It wasn't pretty, but in the past we have struggled against teams who play like that against us. Thought the likes of Dempsey and Parker really stepped up today.

Also the net spend is really interesting over last 5 years. Never realised Stoke had spent that much. Shows how well we are doing on our net spend especially when you look at the likes of Chelsea and City. http://transferleague.co.uk/league-tables/transfer-league-table-last-five-seasons.html

Is this real? Have we really sold 200 million of players in last 5 years? i dont think we are anywhere near that!

No he didn't.
Watch it in SSN. He said that Adm had a right to challenge for the first booking and didn't catch him. He follows that up by saying Adam gave the ref the opportunity to send him off by sliding in but didn't catch him and it is the players reaction which makes it look worse. He went in to say that both Adam bookings and Huddlestone's were soft yellows when you consider some of the things that have only received yellows this season.

Berba, Keane, Modric, VDV would make up half of that alone. Then think about the amount of players we sold for around 5m including the likes of Ohara, Corluka, Kranjcar etc plus the money we recouped from Bent. It is as I expected really. We are very active in the transfer market, both buying and selling. On the whole it shows the way we conduct ourselves is generally to look at long term transfers and those with sell on value. Just wished occasionally we would make that investment though to address areas of need and finally make that step up to title challengers.

I am just glad we don't have a net spend like Stoke, yet produce that rubbish they call football.

Yes, off the top of my head, with rough figures (5 years: January 2008 - January 2013):

Modric £33m
Berba £30m
Keane £20m
Bent £16m
Pavlyuchenko £10m
Crouch £10m
Malbranque, Tainio and Chimbonda: £12m
Palacios £10m
VDV £9m
Defoe £9m
Zokora £8m
Corluka £6m
Boateng £5m
Kaboul £5m
Hutton £6m
O'Hara £5m
Giovani £4m
Kranjcar £4m
Robinson £3m

That's £205roughly in 5 seasons worth of transfer windows. Or, if we take out the furthest transfer window back (ergo, the one where we sold Defoe), it's still £196m.

How the hell did Levy manage to get 8m for Zokora

He is the master. How he recouped full transfer fees for the likes of Zokora, Bent and Crouch and even get £5m for likes of Ohara i do not know. Looking at transfer trends at spurs we have definitely been holding back in the transfer market for training ground and stadium in my opinion.

If Wigan can do us a massive favour against Arsenal, then this Stoke win could be HUGE for us. If we make champions league this year, that money added to extra TV money could bode well for the future. Even if we don't I still think we have a bright future, just it may take a few more years till stadium is done and we reap the benefits from our academy.
