STRANGE INJURY PATTERNS aka IT HELPS TO HAVE A SQUAD
OK: season starts PARKER is out for the long term.
Bad? Nope, means SANDRO is first choice whatever and he plays well until he gets injured for the rest of the season just as PARKER returns from long term injury. Neatly slots into SANDRO's position, nobody is sulking on the bench; on we go.
A week in: Fuck. KABOUL is out long term. That's shit, he's our best centre back. And that's £9m we were gonna get from QPR for DAWSON that we ain't getting. Ah well, CAULKER will get games & might settle. Fast forward a few months GALLAS picks up a knock: wait! DAWSON is back in the team, playing well every week & looks top class again, what luck!
Three matches in: ASSOU-EKOTTO out long term. Shit. We've not got any other left backs, have we? NAUGHTON can play there though & he's just come back to the club & might benefit from the games to settle back in; sure enough he does OK. Also VERTONGHEN can cover out there giving CAULKER a few more matches, him being new to the squad and not first on the team sheet...
ADEBAYOR has arrived late & isn't fit to start a match til November, luckily DEFOE is fit thoughout. No sulking on the bench for our Jermain. Fast forward to DEFOE getting injured & ADEBAYOR arrives (just) back to play & gets injured just as DEFOE comes back to fitness. How convenient!
SIGURDSSON's been quiet this season, taken time to find his feet. Must be hard getting 5 minutes every game and having to wait in line behind DEMPSEY. Oh wait, DEMPSEY is injured and SIGURDSSON is getting half an hour. Does well. Now he's starting. DEMPSEY nowhere to be seen.
So yeah.
Our injury problems: legendarily shit and don't seem to be improving much. But, and i'm crossing fingers / touching wood; they've been weirdly copable and haven't harmed us nearly as much as they could have.
Is LENNON out now? Will this be the making of HOLTBY.... I'd not be surprised...
