Agree but some just like to bitch....they know who they are

Ok great contribution there but if it's just bitching about capitalism then why did the club feel they had to release an official statement asking people to price their tickets more reasonably?

its good PR for the club to appear to do this ... but it wont change a thing, they aren't going to piss off the people who actually
commit their hard earned every year and can take advantage of the benefits stub hub operates every now and then for the occasional attendee

I think they had to do it as PR due to the number of complaints they've had about the system. And just because people buy a season ticket, I don't see why that should give them the right to take advantage of their fellow fans (that's the 'benefit' of stubhub).

how are they taking advantage though? .... if you cant afford it dont buy it. Face value means nothing in reality, somethings worth is only truly calculated by what someone is prepared to pay for it

Because they're taking advantage of fans who are desperate to go to a game and they're allowing those fans to be ripped off. If you don't think people will be spending beyond their means to get to a game then you're being slightly deluded. I get that you don't personaly care about it but the system should be set up so that there's a limit to how much profit can be made. Someone above said that StubHub charges 23% commission, it's just way too much in my opinion and I thought the same about them before they joined up with Spurs.

I won't use it but I don't want to see my fellow Spurs fans getting mugged off by other fans, I thought we're all supposed to be in it together but the system has been set up in a way that it can be abused. Just because it's capitalism, it doesn't make it a good thing.

The issue is that hundreds of tickets that would normally be sold to genuine fans who cannot perhaps afford a membership subscription or justify it for a couple of games a season could previously get a ticket at face. Now rather than getting them at face, season ticket holders are just out to make a quick buck at other fans expense. I know in every day life that is free market economy which I am usually a defender of, but I think the relationship between fans, the club and other fans is always going to be different and I would hope for a better attitude.

At the end of the day, do fans want half the ground to be made up of wealthy chinese tourists or do we want to retain at least a bit of atmosphere?

I have had a ST for decades and on the odd occasion i can not attend matches i will sell it to others, however i will only do it at face value. The reason i do this is because i am not a arsehole unlike some "fans" who obviously are and like to rip off fellow Spurs fans.

I wanted to chime in here as over here in the states Stubhub is used for almost every show, game, and even parking to some events. Most of you are just going though the initial shock of ticket reselling but it's a great system at times. For huge events/games it is a disaster since the prices are way higher than anyone should pay. But for the lesser games you can sometimes get a ticket for under face, which I have done for numerous baseball/football games.

It takes a bit of getting used to and I can see where the problem lies here but this is the same reaction it got over here and then people adapted.

I was able to go see my basketball team (syracuse) in the final four last year, paid 360 USD (face was 180) for the semifinal and final. When they lost in the semifinal I was able to recoup 250 back on my ticket for the final, so I ended up paying face value for the game I did attend. It gives those people that are willing to pay the ability to go.

Good on you mate, if everyone else did that then it would work. I don't have a problem with people wanting to make back the face value after commission so to me it's fair to raise the price a little. It's the people that are blatantly trying to double their money that doesn't sit well with me.

Was it a case of people adapting or just not having another option if they missed out on a ticket? Like you say it's the big events that cause the problems. I've always said that being the first season we've tried this for football, I'll give the club the benefit of the doubt and hopefully they can work on it with StubHub next summer if there are too many complaints. I won't hold my breath but they are definitely aware that people are taking advantage of their fellow fans.

I think it was the idea that "hey, if I can't get it at face, I might have to pay a lot more but it's worth it for certain events. I live on a low salary and still thought that since my alma mater was in the final four that it was a worthwhile investment to go, and stubhub made it possible.

There are now even more 3rd party resellers over here, it's become a large part of the US Sports/Concerts/Events scene. While I wish they could cap prices for certain events, I don't see it changing any time soon.

So did anyone buy from stubhub for the chelscum game? What were the pickup queues like?

I just bought one for the CTBC in block 32, row 9 for pretty much face value after fees, so if that was anyone on here - thank you Sir, you're a gentleman.

If this is successful it gives the club the perfect excuse to raise ticket prices even higher.

'How much will our fans be willing to spend? Let's check the StubHub average'...

The atmosphere at the Lane is shocking enough these days without the influx of rich day-trippers who just want to be 'entertained'.
