I see the media are doing their part to ensure the Stones transfer goes ahead. It fucks me off the way they push for these deals just so that they can make some hits. Half the time I wonder if these deals would even go ahead if the media pressure didn't exist.

Gotta feel for Everton, we've certainly been there before.

Anyone explain Burnley's logic because if I was a fan I would be fuming.

Spend absolutely fuck all last season when you've come up and earn a fortune... Go down then break your club record for an average striker?

Defies logic.

Surely at least spend a bit when you're up and try to cement your place given the new tv money revenue.

Wolfsburg must be laughing all the way to the bank with the amount of money man city are paying for de bruyne. Just a crazy amount.

I'm guessing they never wanted the wage bill to spiral out of control and perhaps felt relegation was inevitable and believe they can come back stronger. Laying out cash is different to running costs. I see what you mean though

This morning on SSN transfer centre they had Cascarino on. When they asked what he thought about the Stones story he was talking about how good an opportunity it is to learn under England's greatest CB John Terry and then saying it's the same as when Cahill left Bolton and look how well he has done blah blah.....

Then they came onto Berahino and he has the complete opposite view, it was all " I know Pulis and he is one of the best managers out there and Berahino is playing like his head hasn't been turned so it's a very difficult decision".

Knob.

Cascarino is an absolute **** of a man made worse that he has connections with Chelsea.

Who could forget the time when Matthew Syed schooled him about Roman Abramovich, beautiful.

With all the money they have thrown at new players, how the hell are they not being hung drawn and quartered by FFP?

I can't agree, Pedro isn't a great player, and even in barcelona the fans haven't been convinced. He is loved but there is always been a feeling they could better with a player from the academy or buy one in.

It will be interesting how he performs outside the barca system

I agree, in pure terms compared to the likes of Lennon he's obviously massively superior, but in Barca terms he's like their Lennon. His decision making compared to their other attacking players is flawed and he can be an incredibly frustrating player at times. Of course he's got ability (especially compared to many we watch at Spurs and in this league) and he works hard too, but if I was a Barca fan he'd frustrate the shit out of me (in fact when I've watched Barca he has).

Haha I was watching that as well and knew exactly what he would say when the subject moved to Berahino. He is ex Chelsea so no surprise at his comments

And Chelsea are supposedly spending £100 million on Stones and Pogba. It's all an absolute joke, and we simply can't compete with Sheiks and oligarchs

When you have the ambitions that Wolfsburg do you don't want to sell your top players for anything, no matter how overpriced an offer that comes in is.

All they want to do is add to the squad, not subtract from it and then hope new additions actually improve the team.

Agree, despite the incredibly high fee, KDB has been an absolute revelation for them. As you say Wolfsburg want to win the league and at the moment they are the team most likely to challenge BM, loosing their best player is only going to hinder this regardless of how much money they make. I can't think of many players that are playing at KDB's level and certainly none who would be avalible and what to go to go to Wolfsburg. We absolutely rinsed Madrid when we sold Bale but there is no doubt we were a weaker team without him and the money didn't fill his space in our team.

That's what Liverpool and ourselves never seem to understand. You keep superstars at all costs. Was the money we got for Bale and Modric worth it? They obviously would have been better off keeping Suarez and I'll bet we say the same about Sterling. I hope we learn from that.

If Wolfsburg sell De Bruyne they'll regret it no matter what City pays.

Dortmund, Atletico and Porto have had huge success presenting themselves as springboard clubs for talented young players to come, work hard, do well and earn a move to one of the big clubs, all three are pretty much run on that basis.

Of course you should keep your top players if you can, but there's no reason why we shouldn't have improved once Bale left - as good as he was, he was only one player amongst a lot of mediocre players elsewhere in the team; if the money was spent wisely we absolutely could, and in fact should, have been in a better position than we were with him. Unfortunately most of the money was wasted on players who turned out not to be up to scratch - but the three clubs I've mentioned have mastered the scouting side of things and can now turn a profit selling their best players for big fees without harming the side.

Atletico's list of strikers since they sold Torres is unreal (Forlan-->Falcao-->Costa-->Villa-->Griezemann-->Mandzukic-->Martinez), while our record since selling Berbatov for a similar fee is piss-poor.
