The most important after the CB though is a couple of quality, athletic players with pace! If I was MoPo I'd buy two wide players, one for RWF, another for LWF.

In my opinion our team would be so much more potent if we had this one either side of Eriksen and Kane.

This, absolutely this. Would tremendously give them more space to work with than what they're currently working with given how cumbersome we are atm.

I suspect though that we'll see one out n out winger brought in, with a second brought in capable of also fulfilling that CF need. Ings, Berahino, and Ben Yedder would be several examples of this.

Don't want to appear unrealistic, but think we should assess our lads coming through the academy. In terms of that mould of player we have Lesniak (18), Veljkovic (19), Winks (19) and Amos (18) who could shine through in pre-season. I personally think we should stick with Stambouli, but play him in certain game scenarios. He was always going to be behind others in fitness as he signed at the end of the window and hasn't played many games for the amount of time he's been at the club.

The conundrum for me is between bringing in a few established older players or going fully down the young players route, there will obviously be games where a young team will be slightly naive or get intimidated by older more physical teams but Pochettino stands more of a chance of building a committed squad with the latter, tough call but im tempted to think the same as you, blood the academy players if they are showing promise and let the squad develop slowly over the next few seasons, adding decent young players from other leagues too.

we do need a different option at CM as Stambouili is a strange one, he doesn't look anywhere near fit enough for our pressing style and seems to lag behind the play.

You could be right, however ( imo) he is the closest we have to a DM and he has not really been given a run in the team to see what he can become.

It's a tricky one isn't it. I don't envy them this summer.
I'd like to see a CB, DM, LM/FWD, ST coming in.

I suspect you're spot on with that. Would turn a requirement of three signings into two.

One caveat though... We'd need that wide forward to actually be able to play up front on his own and do it well not just a makeshift CF who does a job. If Kane gets injured we would be screwed at the moment. We simply must address that problem.

Would Lacazette perhaps be the answer to this and could we get him? He looks quality and quite versatile.

Ings is a good shout, but personally not a fan of Saido Berahino.

I agree with not only the caveat, but your emphasis on the importance of it.

Lacazette would be absolutely ideal, I just don't think it's a very likely scenario unless we somehow manage to pull off top four this year. Ings I do like quite a bit, especially for what we'd have to pay this summer. I must admit I do like Berahino, and I think he's done well in any appearances on the right, which is where I think we could use that cover in the form of a winger/striker hybrid as I'd like to see us make a designated winger purchase for the left, as at this moment we don't have a single genuine left winger. Townsend is the closest we have, and he doesn't even prefer the side.

Lacazette would be an amazing signing but not sure how realistic TBH. In an ideal world, of the semi possible/realistic signings we could make, I would love to bring in Lacazette, Depay and I think we could have those two along with Kane, Chadli, Eriksen, Pritchard and one of Lamela or Townsend and we would have enough cover for the front 4. I know it's only 7 players for 4 positions, but we could have Onomah & Oduwa filling in when needed. Also, at the moment we only have 7 players that Poch is willing to use for those 4 positions and some don't fit the system and/or league.

If we also managed to Milner for CM, his versatility would mean he could also fill in for the 3 behind the striker.

Bringing in Lacazette, Depay, Milner and a solid experienced CB (can't think of one at the top of my head) whilst getting rid of Soldado, Ade, Lennon, Dembele, Paulinho, Holtby, Capoue, Kaboul & Chiriches would be excellent business IMO, but probably no chance of making it happen at all.

Squad would look like:

Kane (HG)
Lacazette
Depay
Eriksen
Chadli
Lamela or Townsend (HG)
Pritchard (HG)
Milner (HG)
Bentaleb (U21)
Mason (HG)
Stambouli
Carroll (HG) or Alli (U21)
Verts
Dier (U21)
Fazio
New CB
Walker (HG)
Fredericks (HG)
Yedlin
Rose (HG)
Davies (HG)
Lloris
Vorm
Archer (HG)

Non HG - 10 to 11
HG - 9 to 11
U21 - 2 to 3

Austin does look a bit chunky.. maybe its just his body shape. He doesn't necessarily excite me that much, but then you think that Poch turned Lambert into an England international, and Kane into one of the most exciting young strikers in the world and you think what could he do with Austin, the guy already has a decent game and eye for goal.. could be a bargain based on Poch's previous experience of (initially) slightly ungainly target men.

Central defender is a must.

We also need another talented young centre forward who can compete with Kane.

What about bolasie from palace for Lwf,power/pace.although not sure on contract situation,

This summer is a really important one for us because it is finally time for Poch to start to build the team he wants. With Spurs not going on a tour this summer it gives us a chance to prepare for the season properly and we can use our own world class training facility's to do it. Then if Spurs do their transfer business early we will be more than ready for the start of the season.

I am just hoping PochettIno and Mitchel put together a comprehensive plan for how we are going to progress as a team and do not go out and just sign blockers. Blockers are players who are no better than a decent premier league player and end up blocking the progress of our youth players who could quite easily reach that level if they get given the opportunities.

Missed the boat on him, he was available in the summer, his value would've increased and I see no point in us trying to sign players from Porto, always overpriced and we'd never get the deal done

Been the best player in Portugal this season, In fairness Porto have a really good team.. there CB pairing of Maicon (SeriouslyUnderated) & Marcano have been excellent.. no goals conceded in last 7 games, Casemeiro & Herrera just boss games in Portugese lg, Tello & Martinez scoring loads.. gonna be a hard game for whoever gets them in CL draw.. Even with all the talent they have Brahimi has stood out.

Interesting how this thread is all about strikers, wingers, left/right wingforwards when in fact what we need is a new defence.

They've got to be shielded more. Our lack in shape and pace makes it far too easy for anyone to be able to put in critical passes that are made simply too easy to make. We're too timid, and too easy to counter on loss of possession.
