Maybe slightly overdone it on midfielders... ;)

Maybe, but it does also include shifting out: Paulinho, Capoue, Lennon, Townsend, Carroll, Holtby and Ceballos. And Alli and Pritchard would not be playing consistently you'd assume.

Plus Mirallas woild be striker cover too.

And if we do get into the UEFA Cup, its suddenly not looking toooo excessive. Think there is a good balance and blend of players there,

But maybe a little excessive...

If we fail to move on enough of them, which compromises our ability to acquire Pochettino's targets, this is all going to end in tears.

Poch is already showing that he's not prepared to be tactically flexible. In fact he's very rigid. So if he doesn't have enough of the right 'types' in - in order to implement his style effectively, and consistently, its all going to blow up in Levy's face.

More wheeling and dealing without tackling this issue head on is just going to see another change in management.
Yup, all up to shinehead.

It seems unlikely that Paulinho will regain his regular starting-berth with Tottenham Hotspur next season, since the Brazil International has not been part of coach Mauricio Pochettino’s plans from the beginning of this one. And, according to La Nazione, Italy is likely to be his next destination.

The Italian media are reporting that Fiorentina lead a pack of several Italian clubs chasing the former Corinthians player's signature.

La Nazione? If they actually have a source on this, that would only be because Fiorentina, with no prior knowledge of Levy, liked the look of him during the EL meetings, and believe they can do a bargain with him.
But clubs must to revamp their midfield this summer, everyone knows that, but I highly doubt Levy & Cognigni could ever agree on the price tag.

In fact, given that they are loosing both Aquilani & Pizarro, who they should be looking at is Dembele & Capoue.

It's funny but I'd be surprised if he didn't try and get him on loan.
Oh he'll try to get him on a loan, or even on a perm. Think we all know that. He wont get him though.

Think Tim may also come in for Fredericks, Carroll, and Veljkovic. Wouldnt surprise me at all if we loan one or 2 guys to Villa(if that's allowed) and sell 2 or 3 to them. Could loan Veljkovic. Could sell Carroll, Fredericks(or loan him), Ade.

It looks like they're going to be looking at signing Cleverley permanently, in which case I'm not sure they'd come in for Carroll. Not beyond reason of course, but I can't see Lerner bankrolling a 6-8m squad option.

Certainly agreed with the rest though, which may work out in our favor.

Weren't Swansea hoping to buy Carroll prior to his injury? Did I just make that up...?

Monk has made a couple quotes, one in January and one since, saying they would like to move for him this summer. Grain of salt n all, but I believe there was ITK saying at the time they made an inquiry in January. However, with them getting Cork, it'll be interesting to see how that pans out. One could even speculate they purchased Cork as a result of us not quoting a fee they'd like to pay for Carroll.

We actually stole Stambouli right as he was about to sign for them so they might go back to him if they're going to be light in midfield...

Think both Dembele and Capoue would be good targets for them though.

I still suspect that Stambouli will be with us next season. I know that's not a common belief, but I would be surprised if he goes. Capoue & Dembele in the same CM in Serie A would be interesting.

The Leicester cup match suggests this wouldn't exactly be a dynamic CM pairing!

Think either of them needs to be played more with somebody a bit more aggressive and mobile - sort of how the Bentaleb/Dembele combo worked so well against Chelsea.

Swap for Ljajic or Salah

In premier league I totally agree, I don't suggest that we start them together for Spurs. But in serie a, I think it would be different.

Seems to be some increased chatter about Lerner being closer to selling Villa than ever with the avoiding the drop becoming closer to reality, plus now people are interested in buying Benteke again, which shold get them a nice fwe if they sell.....so they may have a little money to spend.

May open an option to make a play on Carroll or others within reason

Interesting, hadn't heard that but your reasoning following it makes sense.
