Germany has the 50+1 rule so this would most likely be voted no on, PSG has the champions league semi finals coming up and don't want to do anything to jeopardize that, once they get knocked out or win the thing they will announce they are in itI find the assortment of clubs a bit strange. Why no German or French clubs? Although I understand it would then be too similar to what we already have with the CL. Also not really sure what the mode will be, need to look it up but for now it doesn´t sit right with me. Playing the same teams over and over again? I´d actually prefer the odd Europa League campaign which draws us to teams we not normally face.
I understand it´s off topic and too much of a hassle in terms of logistics, but some sort of World League would have more appeal to me - adding teams from South America, maybe the biggest teams out of Asia and/or Africa would be something I´d be more interested in, but seeing us whipped by the likes of Barcelona, Real, Juventus and (God forbid) Liverpool all the time? No thanks
This is a common thought I’ve seen a lot, I’d like to think I’m not alone in thinking that if I’m gonna see the likes of Sissoko get the runaround every week, I’d rather see it from the best than some of the bums we’ve lost to this season but hey at least they earned the right to do it. And it’s not exactly the same as the 90s bc we’ll be/already are rich as fuck lolThe whole excitement of playing the biggest European teams is that it doesn't happen often and when it does happen it's meaningful. Once the novelty wears off it'll get boring very quickly.
As for Spurs' role in this, it'll be like the 90s again only the teams that beat us will be more "glamorous". Huzzah.
It's a horrendous idea and I hope FIFA and the leagues throw the book at all clubs, including Spurs.
When sheople stop fauning over media celebrities, governed by mobile phones and distracted bt reality TV, then perhaps we can make a change. Until then this system of pyramid capitalism will continue and acceptance of the situation is imperative. It will only change when us plebs of the world stop being led by media and appeased by delusions of superheroes. You have to vote on the principle, not on whether you feel 'we had no choice to say yes if this was in motion' (which will be the Club's main defence for this shabby course of action)
On the principle, you just ask yourself - are you in favour of a meritocracy or not?
The principled answer has to be yes.
That allows for the non-elite, but well managed clubs, to have their occasional day in the sun (Porto winning the CL for eg. They would never win it under this new ESL)
And that's before you get into the arguments about the Football Pyramid, and the disgust I feel for rich clubs owned by dubious offshore owners deciding on what happens in football.
I hope this causes some soul searching about the pathetic state of football governance, none of which put fans interests above profit.
The club we love is now a business that happens to be in football
Unfortunately we all fell in love with the football club, not a balance sheet
THST's strong statement overnight is what I stand behind.
