Still not really clicking for that team, but can't complain about the result. Poch really needs to recognise that Eriksen needs to be playing in the middle. Build around him! Lamela is ineffective and I would get rid to some Italian team if they want to pay £15m or so.

It was odd, but for the first time in a long-time I had real confidence that we would win the game. Not sure why that was the case, but the usual coronary I have before, during & after a game was not all evident. Instead, I watched a team that for the 1st 20mins looked pretty good; comfortable in possession & reasonably decent in defence.

We did conspire to then let Swansea push us with some persistence for the final 20mins of the 1st half & 1st 25mins of the 2nd half. Fazio really needs to get to grips with a movement of a centre-forward's play. He seemed to lose Bony's position time & again in that game, particularly in the 1st half. Sigurdsson looked a handful as well as Montero, & I can't believe I'm saying this, but Routledge as well.

After the huff & puff of Swansea died out in the 2nd half we came back well & got a great result.

Lamela & Soldado were probably the weakest players out there today: Soldado hardly had a kick & was schooled in the art of dynamic movement by Bony. Lamela was ineffective & seems slow considering he looks very athletic. It really concerns me that he still can't affect games in a positive way. I would much rather we get Chadli playing in his position.

Stambouli looked good when he came on popping the 1 & 2 touch passes. Dembele was decent in the advanced role. Walker looked steady, which is very much a plus.

I would be quite happy if we were to make a bid for Bony in the January window; he's strong, mobile & is decent finisher. I'd also like us to look at Shaquiri from Bayern because he's incredibly athletic and direct. Would certainly compliment the 'high-energy' ethos that the Poch is wanting to instil.

The trouble with playing eriksen central is that you drop a striker.

Playing Kane in behind a striker, as we are at the moment, almost gives us a fake 442. He provides us a second presence up front but with the ridiculous amount of ground he covers gives us that 3rd body in central midfield too.

I would like to play eriksen more central but I don't want to stop Kane's roaming.

Playing our other striker is a waste of a player though lol.
Stick Kane up front and Eriksen off him and see how it goes. 4411

when we play down the lines we nearly always get stuck, whereas any opponent seems to have the freedom of the wings with us - particularly our left side and that is our achilles heel. It is our wing players who should be coming back to help out but we don't see that with Eriksen. He is ineffective going forward or back from that position and must be played centrally. I would even put Rose out on the left wing to sort this issue out.

Lamela was dreadful... I have never seen a player give the ball away so many times. He retained possession on 1 out every 15 touches. On top of that his inability to tackle/ clear a ball makes him relatable to Taraabt

Happy with the win, but these reasons I'm still not convinced.

Defense still shaky. Neither fazio or Vertongen dealt with Bonny. Only Kyle walker had a good defensive game. Kane ran his socks off, Erikson is quality. Lamela is off the boil. We robbed that game.

That was Swansea's second defeat of the season, and so what if we were lucky?

Thought that the two full backs played well (great to have Walker back) and that Dembele and Strombo changed the game when they came on. I'd be tempted to start Chadli and Kane on Wednesday and hopefully see Lamela start and rest Eriksen?

Rose and Dier along with Kaboul and that should be enough to sort out the Toon.

Was Soldado really, truthfully missed at all?

I don't particularly want Kaboul anywhere near the 1st team anytime soon

But Taraabt scored the occasional goal........

Clearly our problem with Premiership games after Europa league ties has been solved! The solution is we have to loose the Europa game! ;)

Most of the newspapers really slated Spurs; indicating that they were "lucky" to come away with the win. They also - when awarding 'ratings' for performances - gave just about all of the defensive players (except Davies) 4 out-of 10.
So I'm surprised, and pleased to read so many comments on here not concurring with those so-called experts.

We lose team gets slated, we win some players still get slated. I am content with where we are. Still developing as a team learning a new system. As much as some criticise we are in top half of table and still involved in anything we can be. Based on past experience do not see us spending big in January. Of course for right player would love to be proven wrong. What gives me hope is seeing signs from players with obvious class who have not featured in big way. Look, maybe it will really start to click soon, there have been signs over last 3 weeks. Seeing the way they celebrated the winning goal you could see it was a big win for the players. In reality it should be seen same way by fans. COYS.

Would be interested to see the win ratio this season for when Soldado starts vs when he doesnt.

He might not be scoring or "doing much" but he allows Kane and Eriksen freedom cos he is pushing up against the defenders, but as usual we struggle to get bodies forward to support our attackers. Swansea had 2-3 options each time...and interestingly when they only had one we tended to win the ball back... similar to a problem at Spurs?

We won, and you know what, we were not that bad. So stop whinging all the time. If you going to whinge, try saying something positive too.
