On sky sports the other day it said they had signed him permanently from Amiens already! Although that was Lyall Thomas’ article

You are the anti-BBLG.. he spends every post trying to twist even the shittest player we're linked with into a world beater and you're hunting through the threads saying everyone's rubbish . Are you his evil twin? Or is he yours?

Bit hash ?

I base everything I say on whatever facts, even if limited, I have available, but additionally I try to empathise with what our club’s mindset will be with each target. Mainly I just try and provide reason as to why a bunch of grown men (by and large) shouldn’t be wetting the bed, and I endeavour to challenge those who can’t help but lace their posts with an obvious agenda. That I am able to do this is because, even when I don’t agree with the club’s actions, I always understand the method and ethos which causes those actions. I feel that once anybody is able to do this, they will be far less stressed out about the ultimate triviality that it a bunch of millionaires kicking around an inflated piece of leather.

And I killed my twin years ago, guess that makes me the evil one...

Sky says Jorginho on verge of move for £46.5 million to Man City and Ndombele is quoted as equal or more than that?!

Completely irrelevant...

I think it's relevant in that established top level player in his prime is going for that amount and I believe his contract isn't winding down? Makes me think what would Kovacic cost or other center mids about to enter their prime that would be great fits. The comment was more of a shock that Jorginho was going that reasonably compared to Ndombele. Sorry if it came off otherwise.

There is relevance there so I don't want to knock it but it only goes so far as the two parties are involved need to care. Perhaps Man City are paying that entire fee up front as they mostly did with us and Walker. Clubs will often accept less in that case because they can negotiate other deals easier. If we pay less up front they may want more over longer period because they will have less on hand to go get their replacement, etc. It is also entirely possible the leaked big number fee is wrong, happens a lot. Lyon won't care what Jorginho went for, they will only care about how much they think they can make us, or whomever, pay. Same reason Levy may hold out for big money on Dembele or Toby. If he thinks someone will pay it why accept less until it is clear nobody will? Too many variables to just say player X went for Y therefore anything other than that is poor business.

very fair and I've edited my original post to clarify what I meant. Your points here are very well taken.

So, we're literally switching Dembele for No Dembele?

Not really sure about this.

The other thing with City is that their a bit unique in the fact that if everyone thinks their in for the player it may shy other clubs away as they know they won't be able to compete with them financially. We could probably afford that deal but City would just offer another 5million on top of that and they'd probably keep doing that until we were out of the deal.
