That kind of thing doesn't exist. Otherwise there would be no point in an option to buy.
I mean it rarely exists but that is how we got Toby. Southampton's buy fee was voided if a higher bid was received and accepted. Again, rare, and I doubt one exists here hence the point of my post: He is probably ending up at Lyon...

That is absolutely not what happened with Toby. It would take you all of 5 minutes to look up what did happen there. I already posted a link to an interview with Southamptons executive director at the time in which he explains EXACTLY how it went down.

L'Equipe saying we have opened negotiations with Lyon saying we value Ndombele at €40m. They say not for sale. L'Equipe think €60m will get us at the negotiation table.

Wonder if Levy has the lawyers looking into the Amiens deal now :ROFLMAO:

Interesting. L’equipe is one of the more reputable French publications, right?
From what i can remember, RMC and ParisUnited are extremely reliable so look out for links in them. L'Equipe aren't anything special, but hopefully i'm wrong

Just seen that the journalist of the article - Hugo Delom, is said to be reliable by ParisUnited's twitter account. So it's looking good

Like any outlet they can be. No idea here. I would be surprised if we were willing to stump up 60m for him even though I rate him highly. I would also be surprised if we were going to pay 40 unless it was very favorable terms.

If you just post the last tweet in a thread it will display the full thread here.
Yeah was having trouble with that - only the 2nd and 3rd tweets appear though - the first one says we're in formal negotiations with them.

#thfc have opened formal negotiations with Lyon to sign midfielder Tanguy N'Dombele. [L’Equipe]

The Tottenham offensive for Tanguy Ndombele (Lyon)
Hugo Delom

The Spurs have begun discussions for the transfer of OL's international midfielder and could offer € 40m. A project not easy.

Daniel Levy-Jean Michel Aulas, new episode. The years pass and the facetious president of Tottenham becomes a major character for Ligue 1. Last winter, the boss of the Spurs had offered a trip to a Parisian palace to complete the arrival of Brazilian striker PSG Lucas. This time he has another target. And not just anybody: Tanguy Ndombele (21 years old).

That’s all I can read without a subscription unfortunately...

Classic Levy. Submit a totally facetious offer but throw in a trip for two to a Parisian Palace to sweeten the deal. The years pass, but the boss of the Spurs will always be the same.

Southampton paid Atleti a deposit for Toby - Atleti had a deadline in which to return it, in order to cancel the clause. They did, so we bid and bought Toby. Southampton got pissed because they believed the deadline had passed.
