If you tell keano what to do - he's not the same player.

Thats where liverpool went wrong. Telling him to "play in that hole", much like Rafa did puts an added pressure on him to create something and make things happen - results in him trying too hard and being shite.

His natural game will let him drift into that hole in search for the ball, but if you TELL him to do that, then what he wont do is be the goal poacher and fantastic finisher we know he can be when he runs off the last defender and looks for balls through TO him.

If I was redknapp and played that formation, id give keane a "free role" but tell him to drop into midfield without possession, and do what he wants when we do have possession - whether that be go up top with crouch / defoe or fall deeper and try to make things happen. Its the way to get the best out of him.

Regardless of that, I dont agree with the formation and selection, it is far too weak and attack minded - no balance.

I think that Keane and Crouch will start upfront, with Keane dropping off to make a five man midfield leaving crouch uptop on his own when liverpool are attacking.

We did this a few times last season and it seemed to work quite well.
