I'm trying to be optimistic. However being completely impartial I don't think we have a hope in hell. If they had beaten Barca I'd be more confident. But as it is Wenger will have them massively fired up and the big teams often come back from CL exits with spankings in the league(apart from United this week!).

I really think they will be massively fired up and we will bottle it. I don't want to think that, but I cant help it.

I'm worried about this game but I think we'll do fine, if that makes sense. Worried as I'm watching the game in the pub and can see us getting spanked, but part of me believes that something might just go our way for once. Considering City are running away with 4th now, I'd be so happy to see us beat the goons:

Gomes
Walker, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto
Bentley, Modric, Huddlestone/Gudjohnsen, Bale
Defoe, Pavlyuchenko

Sol Campbell own goal for the win.

Dont care who plays as long as they show some fight.

Gomes
Walker - Dawson - King - BAE
Lennon - Modric - Huddlestone - Bale
Pav - JD

although there are some major fitness questions in there, and in some repects I'm not sure whether I'd replace Tom with Livermore, someone with a bit more steel, fitter, and if we are getting a spanking and there are five minutes left he can go in with a few 'hard' challenges to cheer us all up

Walker at RB scares the shit out of me. I'd rather Kaboul there.

Id go

Gomes
Kaboul Dawson King Bale
Lennon:pray:* Bentley Huddlestone Modric
Gudjohnsen
Defoe/Pav

Assuming Corluka and Kranjcar are out.
If Lennon isnt fit, then play Ekotto at LB with Bale LW and Modric in the centre

Lennon wasn't even on the bench yesterday so I do not see him starting, he's been out for ages, can't throw him in a game like that.

I think Lennon was left out because of the Wembley pitch more than anything else. Not sure whether we should start him or not. Either start him and see how many minutes we can get out of him, or bring him on near the end. But the way I see it, he can't do worse than Bentley atm. Even if he isn't sharp (which he probably wont be) he will at least occupy a couple of players down their left side.

True, I hope he can play but don't see it. I'll be happy if he gets 20 mins.

Bentley has been pretty bad but hopefully he'll have something to prove playing against Arsenal.

I don't care what happens as long as we beat that bunch of ****s.
Seriously, who gives a fuck about players in positions or anything, we just need to win.
And to all the fans that are lucky enough to be going, do all of us proud and sing your fucking faces off.
We are Tottenham, Super Tottenham from the Lane and I'm calling this game the most important since lasagne gate.

Lets fucking have it.

Without Lennon its not that bad that Corluka is out, as Walker is a far better foil for the slower Bentley. Corluka and Bentley when they play together are quite solid defensively but lack a cutting edge and treat attackingly, so I am hoping thre ovberlapping running that Wlaker can provide will give us more penetration down that right side.

Assuming Hudd/Lennon/Corluka/Kranjaer are all out

Gomes
Walker Dawson Bassong Bale
Kaboul
Bentley Gudjohnsen Modric
Pav Defoe

Pav on Sunday did seem to cause some issues to the Pompey defence (more to the people in row Z admittedly). Crouch did have some headed chances but the crouch and Defoe partnership rarely gels at all and I just don;t see the point in persevering with somethign that has been tried loads of times at pompey and with us. Gud/Pav/Modric I think are cleverer footballers so maybe these three can link up well together.

Apart from that Defoe was clearly not match-fit yesterday, and the Crouchie/JD partnership does pay some dividends...just, as said before, that when Crouch goes for upwards of a dozen games at a time without scoring, so when JD is not firing there is a very good chance that it will coincide with Crouchies lengthy droughts we really are in trouble. Especially as the rest of the team don't chip in with enough goals.

That was my thinking too, and after seeing that Pitch close up yesterday, i would'nt blame Harry one bit if that was his thinking also. 10 minutes on that pitch and Lennon would have been back in the treatment room.

I would go along with this. I do not want Hudd or JJ in midfield against Arsenal - perm 2 from Kaboul, Livermore and Gudjohnsen. I can't really decide between Crouch and Pav to partner JD up front.
