With Davies and Werner now out I'd go;

Vicario

Porro
Romero
VDV
Emerson

Bissouma
Sarr

Kulu
Gio
Son

Richarlison

Haven't been impressed with Maddison or Bentancur post injuries and Hojbjerg is also pretty hit and miss.

It'll be Royal at LB for the remainder, unless Porro also gets hurt. So any teams with VDV at LB seems far fetched to say the least. We shouldn't sign Werner permanently.

I know Ange won't but I do wonder if by playing VDV at left back he could slightly change it up by not pushing him up and Instead asking Romero to do it, almost as a 6 , just like City do with Stones .

Given how much our lb playscin midfield, would gio make a passable lb in this team?

How I expect Ange will set up the team tomorrow. Would personally prefer Gio over Maddison but Ange pretty much confirmed that Maddison will get the chance to work through this poor run of form.

Vicario
Porro - Romero - VDV - Royal
Bissouma
Sarr - Maddison
Deki - Richy - Son

Subs: Austin, Dragusin, Skipp, PEH, GLC, Gil, Johnson, Bentancur, Moore

Poor results yes.

But if you look at how we played on Sunday, it was much better.

Thats not in line with woefully out of form.
We were 3-0 down at half time! No matter how good your general play is we look like conceding at every corner and struggling to get our forwards to score in open play. That’s pretty poor form

We basically need one more win to guarantee European football next year. Not thinking for a second we are gonna catch Villa. But we do need 63 to 66 points to ensure we stay in the top 7.

Think Ange needs to consider being a little creative in this game. Try something different. EG: 3 at the back in possession and 4 without. I can see Emerson filling in for Davies, but he can’t play that inverted role.

So, why not when we are in possession;

Vic

Romero - Dragusin - Micky

Porro - Biss - Sarr - Gio

Kulu - Richy - Sonny

When we lose possession

vic
porro - Romero - Dragusin - Micky

Sarr-Biss-Lo Celso

Kulu - Richy - Sonny

Given we have Liverpool on Sunday too… it’s starting to look like Burnley and Sheff UTD are our only winnable games. I’d be delighted if we could even get a point tomorrow.

66 points would get us 5th.

Manchester United and Newcastle play each other and they can only get to 66 points and 65 points respectively so at least one will lose points.

64 points will be enough for top 6, we hands down will get that.
Wouldn’t surprise me if 64 points ends up being enough for 5th aswell.
Although I think we at least end up on 66 points.

Nope, we played well on Sunday generally.

Shite officiating also cost us, on another day we win that.

I dunno, maybe go with this, try and get some fluidity for the season and the midfield clicking?:
