With the inured trio OK:

Lloris
Walker - Toby - Verts - Rose
Dier - Dembele
Lamela - Alli - Son
Janssen
If still injured:

Lloris
Walker - Toby - Verts - Rose
Wanyama - Alli
Sissoko - Lamela - Son
Janssen

I really hope he doesn't, but I have a strange feeling Wanyama and Dier will start together.

Other than that I would go with with a similar team to Boro, Eriksen, Alli and Son with Janssen and +1, for me Dembele if fit, if not Lamela.

I feel like Alli needs to be dropped if i'm honest, Son is starting on the left no doubt. Lamela should be in his best position which is the middle of the AM and that leaves the right side as a fight between Eriksen, Sissoko, GKN and Alli. I want Wanyama or Dier partnered with Dembele in the Middle.

I just have memories of getting a ticket to this game last year and nearly not wanting to go as City had one 5 on the bounce and not conceded, with Aguero playing. But it was one of the best experiences i've had at WHL. I really hope we show Pep what the Premier League has to offer. Dembele could be a realy key for his game. I also think Janssen could bully their CB's. So excited for this game.

Whatever team we put out its got to be strong on attacking set pieces. I only watched bits and pieces of Man City's game last night but they looked a mess at free kicks into the box. We need Son, Eriksen and Lamela to be on top of their game delivery wise, because if they are, then we will reap the rewards.

Key to winning this game will be moving the ball quickly from midfield to attack, as city will be left exposed a lot because they will come to play and attack us.

If we play a combo of dier and wanyama or anything similar we will struggle

Does anyone think Celtic did us a bit of a favour last night??? I thought Man City would stroll it after the Barca performance but Celtic put up a good fight and Man City had to really work for the draw.

Hopefully with De Bruyne out and a maybe a few tired legs (with their 1 day less rest) we can take advantage and break their league winning streak...

100% focus, press and move the ball fast. I think Kevin will give us more of that on the wing at one point during the game.

Also gives out boys some hope that Man City can be got at and aren't the machine everyone thought they were.

I echo some of the sentiments ln here... whilst who plays is important it will be how we play thats important. None of this tippy tappy pass for half an hour and get nowhere shit.

We need ro attack with purpose and pace and press with energy and intensity. We need to transition quickly before they have their defensive shape organised. Also our set pieces have to be of high quality and none of this loopy loopy shit.

God i should give the team talk.

City are certainly not a machine defensively they can definitely be got at if we press them high up the pitch. We might need to score 3 goals to win though as they do look good going forward

Yep think John Stones will struggle if we don't give him time on the ball.
High press from the start is key for us in this one I think.

I'd drop Alli for Winks and Wanyama for Dembele or Dier if available.

All hinges on whether Dembele is fit.

With him, I'm confident we can get a result. Without him that confidence evaporates.

Lloris
Walker - Toby - Vert - Davies
Wanyama - Dembele
Lamela - Eriksen - Son
Janssen

Dembele, Eriksen and Janssen will all definitely play if fit. As will Son and probably Dier despite Wanyama's form. Lamela and Wanyama on the bench.

IMO, my team would be

The certainties :-
Lloris
Walker
Toby
Jan
Lamela
Son

That leaves 5 positions for the others. If Dembele and Rose are fit, then they're certainties as well.

If we go for the usual 4231 then Janssen plays.

If we go for false nine, then son, lamela, nkoudou and eriksen to rotate among themselves to play the attacking quartet.

I'd drop alli for this one

Lloris
Walker Toby Jan Rose
Dier Dembele Wanyama
Lamela Janssen Son

Keep it reasonably tight and frustrate them. Eriksen, Dele, Sissoko and Nkoudou all available to come last 20 minutes if it's still 0-0. I don't think Dembele or Janssen will do 90 minutes.

to get a result we'll need to employ an aggressive team press, something we don't seem to have bothered with as much as we used to.
might have been a slight tactical tweak at some point last season to avoid burnouts
