As for what jimmy is asserting, I know more than enough people of that generation who would without second thought disagree with him and insist that long ball to a centre forward was an occasional thing rather than a regular aspect of our play, but neither you nor I can really comment on that given our age. What I will say is that both that point, and the point we're mooting right now, are highly subjective.
Ok, 'every time is' too much, I'm guilty of hyperbole. But 'more often than not' would be correct in my opinion. Perhaps you disagree, but I believe that there was a spell of quite a few matches where our football became dour and we were a long ball side.
