I know he wouldn't do it unless forced but I was going to say Gil in the left No 8 role (instead of PEH or Skipp) before any talk of Kulusevski ill.

He is quite a technical player and wouldn't have to rely on raw pace so much as he does on the wing. Would draw a lot of fouls. Then Kulu can stay in the right No 8 spot

i.e.

----- Bents -----
-- Kulu --- Gil --
BJ --- Rich --- Werner

Then if Maddison has some minutes in him that's a straight swap for Gil and PEH and Skipp to come on and see the game out

But I know he'll play PEH or Skipp (n)
Kulu and Gil both in the midfield? Give over.

Round pegs for round holes.

If Deki is out, I'd be tempted to go three at the back:

Vicario
Dragusin Romero VdV
Porro PEH Bentacur Udogie
Johnson Richarlison Werner

Not ideal, but needs must.

Do you have a death wish? We’ll end up with hamstring injuries for all our CB’s.

ALi Gold's predicted XI:

Gold's team: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Skipp, Bentancur, Kulusevski; Johnson, Richarlison, Werner.

And Rob Guest:

Guest's team: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Skipp, Bentancur, Kulusevski; Johnson, Richarlison, Werner.

I don't think they have any particular insight, just another observation. Both opted for Romero at CB, and Skipp in CM, with Kulusevski also starting.

I know many are very keen to get Radu in the team but realistically he will need time to adapt to a high line from a tactical point of view. I guess it will come down to if Cuti is fit enough.

Onions of course but remember that the 8s in this system are not traditional 8s. If we have plenty of possession (which we should against MU) they are playing around the edge of the box in the halfspaces (A&C please note sophisticated terminology) and trying to find a way to create a chance. If it was MC, Liv, Ars then I'd want an extra tackler but here I would want technique and movement and have Udogie to be beasting it further back

I can’t see him considering 3 at the back when he has a very certain way of playing with a back 4.

Not 100% but there is a chance tomorrow for a surprise inclusion, don't believe everything Ange says. I've said for a couple of weeks now that Romero and possibly Maddison would be in the squad and that's not completely out of the question. Romero is fine and Maddison is really close!

With no Gio we really need maddison back as soon as. Only two players we have in squad who have the vision and ability to play the outside of foot pass Gio did versus Bournemouth for our 2nd goal.

What’s interesting is that recently we haven’t been posting as many training vids or when we do there aren’t many wide shots and they tend to be more mids or close ups so you can’t really see who else is taking part in training. It’s very possible the likes of Maddison and Solomon have been back in training and we wouldn’t know.

I mentioned it a couple if weeks back re Bentancur and how very few knew until the photo an hour before the game. There is zero benefit to telling the media if Maddison etc may be back because UTD will then prep for the possibility. Unless they do a Bielsa at Leeds then it's great that they haven't got a clue if Romero, Kulusevski, Maddison or Solomon may rock up tomorrow.

Yeah the only thing they seem to have shown this week has been Werner and Dragusin.
