Gilberto is increasingly looking like a strange buy.
Gilberto's quality on the ball was clear to see in the second half against the gooner stiffs. He has the class and composure in possession that one would expect of the current Brazil LB, and given he's got a great left foot and was available for very little, I can see exactly why Ramos & Commoli thought he was an ideal addition to our squad.
But during the January window, we had all that ITK about how he failed the first medical and Spurs went back and renegotiated both the fee and Gilberto's contract. It looks to me like Gilberto is still struggling for peak fitness, and that he may be carrying some long-term injury. So, pre-season in July will probably be crucial for him. If he comes through that fully fit, then I'm sure he'll be a very useful LMer for us. If he doesn't, then Levy may have to write off our investment in him (which probably is relatively small).
