Anthony Gardner misses Sunday's clash against Blackburn but scans have revealed no break after he was stretchered off against Getafe with an ankle injury.

The defender landed awkwardly after making a clearance in Thursday night's UEFA Cup encounter at the Lane and immediately clutched his left ankle.

“Anthony turned his ankle over as he landed and it was quite a nasty one,” reported caretaker boss Clive Allen this afternoon. “The swelling will take a while to settle down, so we won’t know the full extent of the injury until next week.

“Jermain Jenas has a slight hamstring strain from the match at Newcastle on Monday night and that’s why he wasn’t involved against Getafe.”

Gareth Bale (foot), Paul Robinson (calf), Ledley King, Benoit Assou-Ekotto (both knee) and Ricardo Rocha (ankle) remain out.

That's the scary part! That's the ONLY reason Jenas was not involved. What the f was the reason he was "not involved" when he was on the pitch on Monday!

"Not involved" is not so much a description, more a lifestyle choice for Jenas.

Jeez, when will this madness ever end!

Zokora puts more running and heart and soul into each game than Huddlestone, Tainio and Jenas put together. Why do we leave him as last man when we have corners etc? Because he's quick and covers really well. Who played well when pushed to left back one game last year? Zokora. Who do a huge amount of SC members hate without real cause? Zokora. I am so so sick of this anti-Zokora rubbish. Try watching the games instead of listening to the ridiculous abuse of other people and then make your mind up.:evil:

I thought it was strange that JJ wasn't even on the bench yesterday

We will struggle v Blackburn that's for sure -we soooo need a lucky win - even a desrved one :) - but our defence is shocking - perhaps the worst in the prem - we really are in a relegation fight

Where to start with this one.. FACtually Actually Jenas puts in more running than Zokora... in fact Jenas ran more km per game than any other player in the premiershiop last season let alone tottenham. I pass no judgement on his ability. Huddlstone is blatantanly a bigger contributor to a successful Tottenham...he won more ball and created several moments for Defoe particually last night and in almost every game I've seen them both in Huddlestone has done more good than Zokora.

Jenas had a slight hamstring strain after Newcastle.

And yes, our defence is rubbish - but we won't go down. There are at least 3 teams that are worse than us defensively.

Aren't there?

Due to the fact that we are leaking goals and we DO have the players to stop this, why don't we go for:

Stalteri - Chimbonda Dawson Lee

Kaboul

Zoko Pops Tainio

Keane Berbs

Hi Archie, ATM I don't think we'll get relegated either - but we really are in a mess and deffo in a relegation fight - it's not just about confidence etc, though that's part of it, the fact is our defence is shocking and we really do look like a bottom 6 side

So Jenas runs a lot. Mainly down blind alleys. Waves a leg at opposition players instead of tackling. Thinks so slowly he is far more often than not dispossessed. If ground covered in headless chicken fashion is a criteria for being successful, then he ought to be England captain. Huddlestone has, I grant you, scored the odd goal, provided the odd good pass. But given how some on here worship at his altar, Huddlestone is vastly overrated. As one comment on here ran "the turning circle of an ocean liner". Slower than almost any current Premiership footballer you could think of, with tackling which consists of running into people and giving away free kicks. He is a luxury we can't afford at present, playing him in hope of that one killer pass. Even if he does provide one, by that time you can guarantee our defence will have conceded at least a couple by then. Zokora is a better bet than either of the above. By a country mile. Even if he's not God, at least he never hides or shirks his responsibility to his team.

Interesting call RMY - I was thinking of suggesting Salty at RB and Chimbonda at CB last night -

But given PC's lack of discipline can he hack it in the prem as a CB?

Is Mills fit - couldn't he do a better job than Kaboul/Dawson?

What about Dorian? How's he getting on? He played for the reserves yet?

Still finding his way back I believe - the curse over our club is frightening at times - in Dervitte we had/have a player I think would be better than any of our CBs barring King and maybe TG -

Here's hoping DD wil be fit enough to play by next month, but the injury he has had was so severe one can only hope he will become the player he promised to be - here's hoping and good luck DD (and all our injured players)

I remember Chimbo playing center back last season, and he actually had some discipline. I think it was away at Villa, he had better positioning than Dawson and Kaboul, plus he is vocal.

Stalteri doesn't vanish up the pitch, and I don't even know if I would even tell Kaboul he is center mid, since he seems to almost play there anyway.

I think it's the way to go (obviously Clive will be able to see which strikers are the best in training, so I would just trust his judgement with that)

So your solution to stop leaking goals is playing with 10 men and no GK?

I like that
