Team v Bolton

If there's one team we don't want to play right now it's Bolton.

They'll hit us like a freight train from the first minute. We'll have to battle, scrap and fight for every header and every 50/50 challenge.

You think our players are up for that? I think Woodgate, Hutton, and O'Hara will be. Actually, Zokora might be too, but only because he's a lunatic who doesn't really understand what's going on.

But the rest?

Anyway, I may as well post a team. This isn't necessarily our best team, but it's got some fight in it, and that's all you can ask for in our current plight:

Sod it if Bent and Pav can't play together - they'll have to learn, won't they? There's no way we can play Campbell, Bentley, Lennon, Modric, Dos Santos, Jenas etc in their present form, because they'd get butt-raped by the likes of Nolan and Davis.

We need steel and grit, blood and thunder because if we lose at home again, we have to face Arse and Pool having only taken 2pts from a potential 27!

DC, you and me both mate. As SS57 said in Lee we had a very very competant LB who was very experienced.

I'm assuming BAE will have to play due to Bales suspension. So my team for Bolton would be:

Maybe our only hope is if the come and actually have a go. But I'm not expecting it.

you're right id much rather be playing Man Utd, Chelsea, Arse, Liverpool.

Jeez, come on man, if we cant beat Bolton at home then we might aswell pack up and fook off to Doncaster now ready for the first fixture of next season.

I think this thread proves our problem. No-one (certainly Ramos) knows what our best formation or our best team is.

Until Ramos gets it sorted we will struggle.

Personally I think we must go with 4 4 2 just because no other formation works with our players at the moment

The last thing we need to do is play the proven worst central midfield pairing in years (Jenas and Zokora) in a 4 man midfield.....

Why doesnt ramos drop zokora for a couple of games and play HUDD... He would give the midfield the creativity and quick passing it needs!!!

I'm just wondering if the only way we might get some return from Bent is perhaps to play Modric further forward in a definate No10 role. That way he can pick up the ball from the midfield and be immediately thinking about where Bent is and looking for his run.

If we play Modric behind a main striker you will see a totally different player and a much more cohesive forward line. I would love to see Huddlestone in the centre. With his technical ability and range of passing it would instantly improve the side.

Whether he's likely to do that by playing both left AND right midfield is questionable, however. :wink: PS: There's an 'e' before the 'y'.


For me, I'd like to see the best players in recent games given a chance to perform where they have played their best recent football. It's tough without seeing training to know if this is a fair analysis, but this is the sort of thing I'm thinking:
