What’s the chances of Emerson getting called up for the next set of South American qualifiers?

Lose him then the defence choices start to get a bit scary

Any team or formation we put out against Palace or for that matter any other football team with Winks involved makes us weaker. He does not offer anything going forward or defensively. He does not deserve to be in the squad never mind the team.

If he did not come through the academy a lot of people on here would be honest enough to see he is not good enough and we should not be making do with him if Skippy or Pierre are injured.
not sure if serious.

winks takes an absolute battering on here.

Hugo
Emerson - Japh - Dier - Reguillon
PEH
Winks - Dele
Lucas - Kane - Gil

Subs: Gollini, Ndombele, Scarlett, Davies, Doherty, White, Markanday, John, Clarke

Something about seeing FB's and wingers who come from the same country, playing on the same side of field makes me feel like we're going to see a good performance.
Switch PEH and Winks, and you have something very similar to what we played in the second leg against Pacos.

Doherty - Romero - Dier - Davies
Winks
Lo Celso Gil
Lucas Sess
Kane
Compared to their counterparts in our PL matches, Lo Celso and Gil were much more advanced and Lucas and Sess were much wider, so it seemed more like a 4-1-4-1 than a 4-3-3, at least in possession. (THough Sess tracked back a lot more than you'd expect for a forward, so maybe it was more of a lopsided 5-3-2, with Sess being the more advanced of the wingbacks. But I digress). I could see something like:

Emerson - Japh - Dier - Reggie
Winks
PEH
Dele
Lucas Gil
Kane

With the 2 attacking RB's in Emerson and Reguillon ( and with Skipp being out injured) having PEH sit back and shield the back four/ drop in and make an auxillary back 3, would make more sense thank Winks for this game.

This game will be difficult enough as it is, feels like we get Palace away midday more often than not, usually leads to a grind of a game. With all of the injuries and Palace potentially having Edouard ready to put the chances away it could be a difficult afternoon

Have they been missing a plethora of chances that Edouard will be the answer to?

I always thought they struggled to create in recent years.

It should be a case of who cares who they've got as we've got one of the best strikers in the world for us, but it's hard to know how involved we can get him in the match. In the Watford game it seemed like he stayed forward more, but especially with our midfield I think we could really do with him dropping deeper and connecting play.

You have to think that the players that have been training together and with the group and not have nay trvake in their legs will be favourites to start and rightly so. Dele, Eric, Japh, Lucas, Winks, Tanguy have all been training and we believe are all fit. then we have to fit the other pieces in. Bearing in mind we have three games in 7 days this is required. I am fascinated to hear how everyone is at Nuno's presser tomorrow

Bit weird really. Son Skipp Sessegnon Bergwijn could all be ok or all be out. All their injuries at some point are described as precautionary or a knock. Fingers crossed.

I can't believe we've had so many issues this international break. GLC, Romero, Sanchez, Son, Skipp, Sessegnon, Bergwijn. Potentially losing 7 players in one window?

Harry surely will have tomorrow off and be back at Hotspur Way, Friday, ready for the Palace game.

I imagine Nuno is just as anxious to find out how everyone is doing. Lunchtime on Saturday schedule doing us no favors, and I suspect we will be more cautious than normal with virtually no training time for the players who are returning, and then have ECL and Chelsea in the following week. I imagine several players will have to play against Palace and Rennes.

This is going to be a really tough game on Saturday.

The same corresponding fixture last season was tough too, but only because we made it so with our dire, negative tactics. Even if we're missing a few 'names' in the team, those who are called to step up should play for their places and show some real guts. I have a feeling we're going to see Gil start and of course, Emerson making his debut should give us a bit of added strength and balance. Winks may not be the greatest defensive midfielder in the world, but I do feel for the lad for all the terrible stick he gets on here., because he's a very long way from being the worst (just look at what those tossers over at The Haemorrhoids have to watch every week)!

Give Winksy a break guys, eh?
