If - as now looks likely - both Son and Bergwijn are out then tomorrow is going to a be a tough watch. Will probably play on the counter and just hope that Kane can do something special. As if we didn’t see enough of that last season.

Hate international breaks.

You say that as if it is the confirmed team. Also no chance Ndombele starts as a RWF or LWF - If these were the players in the team then Ndombele would be in the midfield 3 and Dele would play higher up.
maybe not in this game but i'd like to see us try ndombele from the left at some point, i'd certainly back him to deliver more from there over the course of a season than bergwijn. i don't see midfield as an option for him right now given how nuno likes the three worker bees in there.

I don't think Lucas and Gil flanking Kane is that bad of a backup. I'd argue Lucas has been just as good (if not better) than Bergwijn this season, and I think Gil is a player we're all excited by. Obviously neither are on Son's level, but I don't think it's a disaster as long as he's not out for weeks and weeks.

Skipp at 6 seconds? I could be mistaken as Harvey White looks similar but I feel like that's how Skipp moves

my guess is that Skipp and Bergwijn play and we see this:

Lloris
Emerson Japhet Dier Reguilon
Hojbjerg Skipp Dele
Lucas Kane Bergwijn

I'd quite like to see Gil tbh.

Borderline zero creativity in that side. Can't even imagine how we'd score a goal.

the good thing about the midfield currently is that there is a balance and it has what appears to be clear instructions which is something that was so totally missing last season - the need for a midfield to be creative is not really necessary if it can set a tempo provide a platform and your front 3 are good enough - Liverpool won the League with a functional midfield but a very good front 3 and two excellent attacking full backs - if you can replicate that to some degree which would seem to be the way Nuno is heading then I think a midfield based upon work and Dele's goals might go a long way - it certainly can be no worse than the shambles of a midfield that we had last season

Oh yeah there is a balance and it's undoubtedly better than what we saw last season. I certainly don't mean to say it's all bad with this current three, but it's not a balance that I personally think we'd get away with for the majority of the season. I think it's hard to compare with Liverpool as we're talking about 2 fullbacks that provided a way above average amount of assists/chances, as well as three forwards that massively contributed in some sort of way. In comparison with us, we have 2 forwards who contribute fantastically in Son and Kane, but the fullbacks are a bit of an unknown quantity in terms of how much they will provide for us in the final third this season and we don't yet have that 3rd attacker alongside Kane and Son that contributes heavily in some sort of way so I still think we're some way off being able to function like Liverpool did, as of now at least. I accept that you say if we can operate like that in some degree, but I think we'd need to compensate in not fully being able to by having better quality in certain positions that I'm not quite sure we have yet.

But I think that's probably where the disagreement we have lies as well, you obviously have faith that Dele is the answer to the position in front of Skipp and Hojbjerg where I personally feel that's the weak link in the midfield.

If we need some creativity in the team , better find a place for Gil in tomorrow's starting XI, watched his u21 game the other night seems to be always looking to set others up.

Don't disagree, but Son isn't actually the most creative player and he's the main omission from the first 3 games. You could actually argue having Emerson at RB gives us more attacking impetus than Japhet has offered so far.

Although I am concerned long term with the injuries and situations which have transpired over the international break, surely even if Skipp, Bergwijn, Son, Romero, Lo Celso and Sanchez are missing we still have a better 11 than Palace can put out? I don't think there's much in the way of excuses for not getting a result tomorrow.

Do we know if Sess is available, after being sent home by England, as, could be an option from the bench if Son & Bergy are out.

You know as well as I do that football doesn't work like this :D

Even with a full squad available it's a tough fixture to be honest. We've always had a better 11 than them when going to Selhurst Park and have almost always had a really tough and tight encounter.
