We have just taken 7 points against United, Liverpool and Arsenal and have played some of the best football in a long time. I really don’t think we should tinker too much. I would honestly play in the same 4-2-3-1 formation with the same players. I don’t think we should change a winning team too much.

I much prefer us playing with an offensive player than one more centerback. Especially because we have Eriksen who comes deep and our CMs are not exactly goalscorers. We are a lot more flexible with Son, Dele, Kane and Eriksen all playing.

Bit blasé against a European heavyweight don'tcha think?

Fergie had to adapt his tactics in Europe and we should be no different

Yeah maybe, but then i'm not managing the team, Poch is. Madrid are a European heavyweight too. 4231, harass and press their defence. I think we'll be fine.

What's more important than the actual formation, is working hard as a team , pressing intelligently and being brave enough to have a proper go at them.

But the three man defence was prevalent to all our good work in Europe this season.

Don't get me wrong, I won't be be bitching (much :cautious:) should we adopt the 4231 but there's a reason why English teams have come a real cropper in Europe in recent times - see Gary Neville's oft critique - because of the general tactical naivety employed and adopting a 'well it works in the league so it'll work against X in Europe' approach.

I thought about taxing my hamster wheel with all the pre-match stuff to Juve but frankly I cant be bothered. So i'm going to sit this one out and just enjoy the match. Well ok until the 80th minute when i embed my claws in the hubby until the whistle blows then leap through the ceiling in delight.

Their injuries are pretty significant. Dybala is a massive loss he is their joint top scorer with higuain on 14. Next after that has 6 which is kheidera. Dybala is their most creative player. Costa is also a doubt to start. Cuadrado as well that’s basically their 3 most creative/flair players. Without them they are very workman like. Imagine Chelsea without hazard and Willian. Also think manzujic dud his hamstring. And matuidi the powerhouse midfielder.Yes they will be tough over 2 legs but I really don’t think they are as good as some in here think.

I hope we've rested Toby today to make sure he's 100% for this. Sanchez has been largely great, especially considering his age and being new to England, but the one thing we miss most when Toby's not there is his comfort on the ball and his passing range out from the back. I think that ability could be crucial against Juve.

Intrigued to see how good this Tottenham team are. Group stage matches tell us a little bit, knock out stages define teams.

Danny Rose needs to play for me, he's an elite left back. Aurier also plays as he has CL experience.

Wanyama and Dier holding, Dembele as the third midfielder. Eriksen and Son supporting Kane.

Alli has been poor for quite some time.

Actually Juve has not impressed lately and Dybala, Cudrado and Mautidi I think will miss the game.

When the draw was made this felt impossible but things have changed.

We must continue with 4231.

Given Italian football spends most of its time in 1st gear, having both pace and quick passing players is a must. Wanyama, Dembele, Eriksen, Lamela, Son and Kane for me.

Looks like Dybala might play though? After the Fiorentina game Allegri said: “We hope he’ll be available, I cannot take risks, he’s an important player, we can not accelerate his recovery and then lose him all the season.”

I'm completely baffled as to how people are selecting Rose over Davies for such a big game considering current form.

Same 11 as today for me, potential rotation on full backs is Poch thinks it’s necessary.

The rest have Rochdale to show a reason to break in

The amount of teams given on here not starting with Dier is a bit weird. When did Poch last start without Dier (Newport aside)? I get that some of you are taking fresh legs into account but i can’t believe he won’t start without Dier.

I understand wing back rotation cos they’re running up and down for 90 minutes all game but Dier is, erm, a bit more chilled...

So much wrong here.

Rose - in his healthy prime - was an elite back. He is not currently an elite left back. He will probably still play though.

Dier/Wanyama/Dembele - too defensive. Dier and Wanyama have shown they struggle together as neither are attacking enough. Dembele and Dier (or Wanyama) is enough.

Dele - went through a rough patch earlier, but his form is coming back, and his energy is important in both attacking, and closing down. He saves a lot of miles from Kane having to do all the closing down up front.

Dier is everyone's favourite scapegoat - but he is one of Poch's most trusted players. If its an important match - and Dier is fit - Dier is starting somewhere.

One big push on Tuesday from almost all the players who started today and they’ll get almost 2 weeks off while our second team play Rochdale. Our next league game isn’t until Monday 26th against Palace away.
