---------Dembele-------Sigurdsson--------
--Townsend----------------------Dempsey
-------------------Adebayor----------------

Subs: Cudicini - Vertonghen, A Smith, T Carroll, Jenas/ Sandro, Bale/ Lennon, Defoe

Yea looks about right, although i think Hudd works better where Dembele started today, not as a DM. Anyone know how far Parker is away from coming back?

I reckon AVB will go for:

Lloris

Walker
Dawson
Caulker
Naughton

Livermore
Hudd
Dembele/Sig

Townsend
Adebayor
Dempsey

------------------Lloris------------------
Smith---Dawson-----Caulker---Naughton
---------------Livermore-----------------
----------THudd-------Carroll--------------
Townsend------------------------Dempsey
-------------------Adebayor----------------

Fuck me that is a strong team, AVB loved the carroll Thudd combo in preseason, it will be jenas for livermore if he is still injured imo

It's a home tie so we don't need to worry about tiring players out, Lazio are a good side who should not be taken lightly, AVB will want to win the tournament far more than Harry ever did, and we could do with starting to put together a run of results. So I would expect us to put out a strong side. Maybe something like:

Lloris
Walker Caulker Vertonghen Naughton
Huddlestone Livermore Siggurdsson
Lennon Adebayor Dempsey
The likes of Carroll, Townsend and Smith can wait until Wednesday week's away fixture against Carlisle in the Carling, when with United coming up on Saturday I imagine we will be calling on the full depth of the first team squad, and possibly beyond.

Lets not dick about, some changes to give some players a game but nothing too drastic, I want us to do well in this competition:

Lloris
Walker Caulker Vertonghen Naughton
Huddlestone Livermore Dembele
Lennon Adebayor Dempsey
Subs: Keeper, Smith, Dawson, Sandro, Sigurdsson, Townsend, Defoe

There's a lot of top teams in this tournament this season and it will get stronger when the debris from the Champions League drops in. I want us to play a strong team for it.

No way would I rest Vertonghen, he's brand new to the side and is visibly improving every game. He's been great but there's obviously loads more to come so keep him going and acclimatising. Same goes for Dembele actually. Of the newbies the only one in the side who I'd rest is Siggy and that's because he has played every time and because I liked what I saw of Hudd when he came on today.

Lloris
Smith Caulker Vertonghen Naughton
Livermore
Huddlestone Dembele
Townsend ............... Dempsey
Adebayor
Bench: Cudicini Dawson Walker Sigurdsson Bale Lennon Defoe
Walker is our one good, proven, fit full back right now so he shouldn't be risked. Caulker ahead of Dawson because much as I love Dawson, Caulker is the future and the one I want to see getting into our side to compete with Kaboul and Vertonghen long term. Naughton needs to learn how to play at left back if Ekotto is injured for a while. If Livermore is fit enough then I don't want Sandro getting knackered. Bale and Lennon have played every time and we have brand new Dempsey raring to go, while Andros had a nice cameo today, and Adebayor surely needs to start at some point after all that hassle to get him.

Whatever happens it will be good to put out a team with a plan to win the match. A far cry from when Redknapp would just put 11 disillussioned players on the pitch.

Let's actually put out a team to win, none of this kids and reserves nonsense. Maybe Ade, Dempsey and Townsend to start instead of Defoe, Bale and Lennon but beyond the front three, where we're nearly as strong in reserve, and maybe playing Daws at the back instead of Gallas (oh and Lloris of course) I don't want to see any weakening of the team. I want to win and Lazio are not going to be easy to beat.

Your getting boring now. Everyone of your posts is a dig at Redknapp no matter what it's about. He did a great job here and no doubt proved you wrong. Get over it. Concentrate on getting behind AVB and the team.

I agree, I think AVB does too.

Mostly...but if Benny is injured, I'm not sure I would risk Walker and naughton.
Maybe go with RichieS, above, in putting Carroll in the middle.

I want to see Pritchard play at some point in the Europa League. The guy was class on Thursday.

Lloris
Walker Dawson Caulker Benny
Livermore
Huddlestone Carroll
Dempsey Adebayor Townsend
And we'll win! What an outrageous second string team that is!

I don't watch Italian football, but my mate who's an Inter fan was telling me they're really looking good.. Only conceeded their first goal of the season today in a 3-1 win. He said to look out for Hernanes and Klose. Hernanes apparently plays like Modric and scores like Rafa, could've got a hattrick today. Klose will do nothing all game apart from score.

This is a tough game but I think the team can be altered without weakening it too much, I'd play:

-----------------Lloris-------------------
Walker Caulker --- Dawson Naughton
---------Dembele----Livermore-----------
-Lennon-----Dempsey-------Townsend--
----------------Adebayor--------------

Subs:
Cudicini, Vertonghen, Huddlestone, Carroll, Sigurdsson, Bale, Defoe

Youngsters Caulker and Townsend should be given their chances to shine. This game should also be used for top quality players like Lloris, Dempsey, Dawson & Adebayor their chance to push for a starting position against QPR.. Bale can be used as an impact sub if we're losing, if we're comfortable, players like Huddlestone and Carroll can be given a chance.
