Would you put it past us not to concede 4 goals with the way our defence has been performing recently?
If we lose a 4 goal swing at home to the 7th best side in Austria then I feel like we should all just pack it in for the season then try again next year. Go and spend some time with the families instead. Maybe poke our heads in for the League Cup final but that’s it. Hibernation for the rest of the campaign.

Saw a few of you mentioning Lavinier for RB and thought you were taking the piss as I had never heard of him. Googled him and lo and behold, we signed him on deadline day from Chelsea of all clubs!. They spelt his name Laviner though.......

Anyway cannot do any worse than Doherty in Aurier's absence!

Based on percent performances I believe both Son and Hojbjerg look jaded so need a time out, and should not be anywhere near squad for this game

Hart

Laviner -----Tanganga ----- Toby ----- Reguilon

Winks ----- Sissoko

Bale -----Lamela ------ Lucas

Vincius

Whiteman Davies Doherty Sanchez Devine Bowden Dele Bergwijn Scarlett

Can't leave anything to chance based on recent performances.
Start strong and kill the game off and then experiment.

Bale doesn’t play this game. He’s rested to play 90 minutes at the weekend surely.

We’ve got a handsome lead, relatively strong in defence and then the second string including Bergwijn to start in the other positions. Hopefully he’ll score.

This could be where your plan falls short mate.

Need Son, Kane, Bale, PEH, Lamela, Ndombele, Toby, Reguillon, Rodon to be saved for the Burnley game on Sunday. The team above should be able to see out the 2nd leg. Would like Tanganga and Dele to get the full 90 to build fitness and form. Dream scenario would be for us to get a couple more goals in the 1st half and bring on Scarlett, Cirkin and maybe Bowden to close out the 2nd half.

Forget this was a Wednesday fixture and would make a couple changes in that case.

Hart
Tanganga Sanchez Dier Davies
Winks Sissoko
Bale Dele Bergwijn
Vinicius

Give Bale 45 minutes to keep his confidence and form going, hopefully we would have scored a couple more goals in the 1st half. 2nd half sub in Lucas for Bale, Cirkin for Bergwijn and Scarlett for Vini and revert to a 352 with

Hart
Tanganga -- Sanchez Dier Davies --Cirkin
Winks Sissoko
Dele
Lucas - Scarlett

I'd stop rotating and more or less play the same team as we would against Burnley so we can finally get some consistency. We need to find a way forward and stick with instead of throwing shit at the wall every week and hope that it sticks.

I'd like to agree but some of those first XI look dead and need a recharge. PEH, Son to name but 2 could do with a full week break from the full action.

Fair point. I'd just like to see that we don't make 5-8 changes for once so that we can start to build some confidence.

son cannot defend . He should be played as out and out striker next to Kane

Bold idea to sign Salamon Rondon and fling him in at CB against Burnley ?
