I think Bentaleb has been made to look very average by the emergancy of Dier & Alli.... & to think last season he was the next big thing

We have moved onward and upward since last season. Bentaleb may not cut the mustard now. Shocking hospital pass to Dier vs Colchester.

Swap Chadli for Eriksen and this would be my team. I think Poch will go 3 at the back again.

I was torn, I think Son and Chadli are our most natural wide forwards in a 4-3-3 sense so went with them. really, I wouldn't be unhappy to see them swapped for Lamela and Eriksen

Rotate the FBs and one of the attackers and that should be our team

Depends on how fit everyone is after last night really.

If everyone is fit and raring to go, we actually have a full week's break before the City game, so no reason to rest anyone, particularly against a decent Watford team.

Dembele might be the one most likely to drop out based on fitness, but hopefully he'll be fine.

As for the formation, I really don't think we should be pandering to their formation too much as we're at home. Yes they'll have two up front, but that should mean it's easier for us to control the midfield, and therefore take their attackers out of the game.

So Dier should be pushing up if anything rather than dropping into a back 3.

I think Carroll will play as Poch likes to rest Dembele if he can. Can also see Lamela coming back into the team and the full backs being rotated again with one eye on the City game.

Loris, Trippier, Wimmer, Toby, Davies, Dier, Carroll, Lamela, Ericksen, Ali (if 100%, if not Chadli), Kane. That should be enough to beat Watford at home.

I would like both Dier, Chadli in the team to help with their aerial threat at set pieces.
But I wouldn't know who to leave out up front for Chadli.

Shows how good we are becoming as a unit that it really isn't that important who Poch chooses.(y)

Bentilab has to start getting some game time imo, We cant just run Dier into the ground. He is out of touch and needs time on the pitch to find some of last years form.
Why not? We seem to like running our best players into the ground. Just look at the lack of a striker after Kane.(y)

Fwiw, i agree with you.

Watford play more long balls than any other team in the league, especially away from home, and there's a good reason for that - Igahlo and Deeney. They'll also target Wimmer (who I'm not yet convinced about) so I'd be inclined to play three at the back as we did against them before. I know we're at home, but why not manage the risk? We've got enough about us in midfield and up front to create and score goals.

Switching to three at the back is a good challenge for the players too, that I think they'll rise to. Should ward off complacency and help them focus.

We play like we have 3 at the back as it is. Dier frequently drops in between the CBs. Just a case of tweaking our normal setup a bit IMO.
