One decent result and we all want to start messing around with the formation.

I'd like to know exactly what Rose did wrong that would necessitate moving arguably our best attacking player back into defense?

Same as yesterday for me.

I would prefer it if just played the same team and system we did against BlackBurn.

Unless we have further injuries..?

If it ain't broke...

a must win game and a win that will go miles to sealing at least 4th. we simply have to win so by that logic and knowing spurs as i do we will lose!!

when spurs play teams liek bolton , above all else, i worry about spurs conceding set pieces, corners and throw in's. we do it at alarming rate against big strong teams like bolton. we are not the biggest strongest team so we better be on our game. we simply cant afoord to lose imo.

If you want plenty of strength in there, and height maybe....you play Sandro obviously, Parker (if not fit - Livermore), Nelsen, Kaboul and Gallas at LB.

Friedel

Walker
Kaboul
Nelsen
Gallas

Sandro
Livermore
Modric

VDV
Adebayor
Bale

Parker in for Jake if he's fit, Lennon on the bench to come on if we need a goal.

Given that Rose wasn't great at LB, Bale seems unable to stick to LW and we need to reinforce the midfield I'd make one change to yesterday's team bringing in Parker or Livermore for Rose and go to a 4-2-3-1.

Friedel

Walker
Kaboul
Gallas
Bale

Sandro
Parker/Livermore

Lennon
Modric
VdV

Adebayor

I'd go along with this. We should have alternated Bale and Lennon more often IMO. Bale is more valuable and contributes more/better quality end product than Lennon but both are inconsistent and neither should start in the same line up IMO.

That looks more of a side for Stoke away. Bolton aren't quite like that under Coyle, even if Kevin Davies is still there.

Their home record is pretty dire with 4 wins and 3 draws from 17. 2 of those wins were in the last month against Blackburn and QPR.

Yeah the more I think about it, the more I like the OP's team...although Bolton are still strong from set pieces etc, and they always rough us up a bit when we play there despite who's in charge.

"If Fabrice is fit and well for that then I think the game against Tottenham would be a great opportunity, because of the events that took place at White Hart Lane," said Coyle[to say a personal thanks to fans and players for their support].

I don't want to appear too uncaring, but I would rather this didn't happen.

God, nor do I.....talk about a distraction and a lift for them, without being cynical I could see why they would want to do it.

But yes, I know these things make football pale into insignificance

People moan about rotation (lack of) and yet all want the same team to play... he he..

Oh I say keep same team if players feel fresh enough... don't believe our slump was due to rotation issues.

Wouldn't mind that, as long as Sandro does not end up playing RM, as has happened lately when 3 cm's have been deployed.

The 'if it ain't broke' approach is what began this slump with our team selection against Arsenal. I don't think any team we ever play again will give us as much space as Blackburn did yesterday, and that's certainly true of Bolton so I think it's a bit dangerous to assume the same team will dominate in quite the same way.

I still think that, especially away from home, we need to have a bit more stability in the middle and playing two wide men might leave us a bit open.

I suspect we'll see the same team though if everyone is fit.

I think I would definitely like to see Sandro/Parker/Modric in the middle but the only question is that of where Bale plays and the effect it has on whether Lennon can start.

We've dominated a lot of away games with that midfield trio but we've failed to get enough goals with it. With VDV wide right plus drifting in, as well as Bale drifting in and not hugging the left wing much I feel the setup can leave us looking a little bit bland, unadventurous and clueless at times in an attacking/chance creating sense. For that bit of offensive buzz and more direct approach that we seem to lack with it maybe it is vital that Lennon plays.

Something wrong with Sours fans when they want to play Parker and Sandro at the expense of Lennon(if fit).

I know it's fear, but apparently we needed 3 in the middle against Norwich at home. I don't know what Liverpool were doing at Norwich at the weekend but it didn't seem to be fearing the opposition.

It's nothing to do with fear it's to do with playing the right team for the right occasion. Norwich was different because we didn't have Adebayor and frankly no system would have worked with Defoe upfront on his own.

Fair enough if you think we should go gung-ho in every game...but look where that got us against Arsenal.

You just know Davies will pull onto Rose throughout the game and I dont fancy that one bit. Play Gallas at left back and King in the Center. Going forward same team as Blackburn.

Do you think Harry will leave out Bale? I can't see Harry not playing Lennon, Modric, VDV & Bale

I think we will stay with the same team as sunday TBH.
