This might be a bit controversial but I'd quite like to see us start the 1970's Brazil team in this game.

I would go with:

4-2-3-1

AURIER
RODON
TOBY
DAVIES

NDOMBELE
HOLJBERG

BERGWIJN
LAMELA
SON

VINICIUS

I'm pretty sure Jose will go with Sissoko as one of the deep midfielders, push NDombele up as a 10, and drop out Lamela. I would like us to play more on the front foot for this match though and having Lamela, with his workrate and pressing, would allow us to do that. Playing NDombele deeper will give us more of a foothold in midfield and give us a better chance of actually playing through the thirds, rather than back and forth between the centre backs before a hopeful punt up the line.

I'm not looking forward to this one tbh.

I think, on reflection, it’ll be cautious:

————Lloris
Aurier—Toby—Dier—Davies
——Hojbjerg—Sissoko
Bergwijn—Ndombele—Son
————Vinicius

Subs: Hart, Doherty, Tanganga, Rodon, Sanchez, Winks, Bale, Lamela, Lucas

Jose as said " I cannot pick Bale " and from what I have seen I make him right it seems that nostalgia is getting the better of common sense where Gareth is concerned I am afraid he is finished as a top level player and you can see why Madrid have not been playing him .

Lloris

Aurier Alderweireld Dier Davies

Hojbjerg Sissoko

Son Ndombele Moura

Vinicius

Moura on for some chemistry with Vini. I'd put Dele in for Sissoko (swap positions with Tanguy), but he's not likely ready for tomorrow.

fifa isn’t real life mate, I’m sorry to tell you.

Asked if he can afford Bale a run of matches, the former Chelsea manager replied: "No. I cannot do it.

"High level football is very difficult to do it [give a run of games], especially in a competition like the Premier League where the level is so high that it is very difficult to do it.

"In my opinion, it was the team that didn't have a good performance [against Brighton]. It was not Gareth individually, it was the team."

That wasn't him saying he can't pick Bale at all. It was him saying he can't just pick Bale to let him get his form back.

lol that's cute. Not referring to FIFA, mate. I'm talking about their off the pitch chemistry and the fact that they link up nicely in the few times they've played together. Shared language helps.

He may not be everybody's cup of tea, but Dier will be selected for tonight's game.

Tuchel has already come out & said that the players at Chelsea have told him about the significance of this derby. So that means they'll be fired up for it & ready to battle.

Whether you rate him or not, outside of Hojbjerg and (possibly) Sissoko, Dier is the only other player that's willing to go into battle on the pitch, which is what Mourinho will be expecting us to do against his old club.

I can't see a way Dier doesn't start this one.

Huge difference then between how it’s being presented. Thank you for digging for me.

I get why he doesn’t think he can allow Bale to play his way into form, as if he doesn’t it’s going to be damaging. I just don’t think he’s applied that same ethos to several other off form attackers who have a far lower ceiling.

Onions.

2 defenders to come in from the cold - Dier and Aurier.
Toby probably earned another start.
Vinicius not trusted to start in PL.
Lamela over Bale and the headless chicken due to his tenacity.
So:

Lloris
Aurier - Alderweireid Dier - Davies
Højbjerg - Sissoko
Ndombele
Bergwijn - Son - Lamela

Tough game with our injuries and form, but I would go 442 and keep things simple.

Lloris

Aurier Toby Rodon Davies

Bergwijn Hojbjerg Ndombele Son

Vinicius Moura
I'm not a fan of Moura but I think he has the pace and energy to trouble Chelsea if he plays centrally, just off Vinicius.

I think we could see:

Lloris
Aurier Toby Dier Davies
Hojbjerg Ndombele
Moura Lamela Son
Vinicius

or push NDombele forward to the 10, and put Sissoko in for lamela.

I have a weird feeling he's going to leave Vinicius on the bench again
