We really should be able to turn over a one nil deficit. Last week I suggested strongly we play a weak side but now things are different. We have unexpectedly lost the last two games and put in very poor performances; as a team the players need to win to regain some confidence before Sunday. The way the season is going we still need to keep fighting for that top four, I still believe all the rest will continue to drop points.

What would be great though is to be able to give some players coming back from injury some time on the pitch but not take risks

Why are you all putting Hugo in your teams? Friedel is the cup keeper and was clearly our best player on the pitch last Thursday. Fact.

Friedel
Naughton Dawson Veljkovic Fryers
Sandro Onomah
Townsend Eriksen McEvoy
Soldado

Who said Friedel is our cup keeper?
Lloris played vs the arse in the FA cup and in the league cup vs west ham

To be honest nobody who played against Norwich deserves a place in the team based on that performance (apart from Hugo).

I don't know what our team should be anymore. We have so many players who should be good but who aren't that if I was Sherwood I'd just pick whoever looks like they give a shit in training.

Sorry boys but top 4 is over and I'm usually one of the more positive spurs supporters (if there is such a thing) We won't be getting much at Stamford bridge because we barely ever do and the all important game at Anfield which I think will be the final nail in the coffin for us. You honestly think our shit defence are going to contain SAS? No bloody chance. W

And people wonder why there is a defeatist and soft attitude at Tottenham - that's exactly why. Familiar with the team self - fulfilling prophecy?

I'm saying we stand a good chance, but we have a slim one. Anything can happen in football, suspensions, injuries....players coming into form, players coming out of form...anything.

Its not over and to say its completely over is very defeatist IMO, even if we're long shots.

Yup and he has every right too and I would want him too, don't really want a player who can't believe in his own ability.

Okay, it is not worked out for him so far, for many many reasons, but it doesn't mean he has no ability or he should lose faith in his ability.

Good answer and I couldn't agree more. (But what is he doing playing computer games with all that English homework?)

But should we rest our perceived better players in the last competition we are still in for this very slim chance of top 4? Absolutely no way in my opinion.

No, we should be going all out for it tonight - and its home anyway, so there's no travel.

But I wouldn't of played the same team pretty much out in the Ukraine and against Norwich - that was a mistake IMHO.

Lloris

Naughton
Dawson
Vertonghen
Fryers

Chadli
Dembele
Sandro
Eriksen

Soldado
Adebayor

Up and at 'em. Sandro in front of the back 4 and everyone else getting forward.

If Sandro cant last the 90 then Bentaleb comes on around 70 mins.

I really want a big performance tonight, something to cheer about, I don't feel any excitement about heading to the Lane, we need to win both these games this week as we have a tough run coming up.

Would love to see:

Lloris
Naughton Dawson Vertonghen Rose
Lennon Sandro Eriksen Townsend
Soldado Kane

Very slim chance? Excuse me? I'd say we have a a slightly less than 50% chance at overtaking Liverpool for 4th. They have a great attack but a horrible defense. If they dont drop at least 13 points, I'll be shocked.

Even if they drop 13 points that still means we can only afford to drop 6 points and with the fixtures we've got left and the way we're playing, I'd say that's highly unlikely. I reckon we've got about a 10% chance of catching them. Therefore (and to keep this on topic), put a good team out tonight.

Yeah lets win so we're really knackered before the north London derby and get dicked on there as well as balls up the Europa League. Great.

We still 100% have more chance of getting fourth than we do winning this fucking cup... Juve Fiorentina Napoli Benfica Valencia Porto Shakhtar...

Not that I think we'll get 4th but it's really time we just let this comp go. Certainly for now.

agree!!!!!! we're so fucking big & have won so much over the last 20 years we can afford to
give tonight a swerve!..
all so we can give ourselves a chance of 4th & entry into the make up the numbers cups next season.

all of those clubs you mentioned left in the Europa would want to avoid us like the plague as well!

goons go to Bayern in the same week as the next round of the Europa too so no advantage there either,.. get behind your team ffs.
i'm off to the lane now :p

I think Sherwood ballsed up with not resting enough of them for the Norwich game. You know yourself we agree on the affects of the Europa League.

Top four is looking very difficult but we shouldn't be giving up...anything can happen in football, including injuries and suspensions etc that can be influential. So we have to keep on fighting.

That being said we might as well field a strong side tonight and give it a proper go, at least there is no travel involved.

Worry about two weeks time when needs be.

Anyway if we can't improve our home form and get some of these guys performing better other than Adebayor, I don't think we'll be beating Arsenal anyway - Europa League or not to contend with.

Lets get some confidence back at the Lane.
