I'm pretty sure that we do have another registered right winger in our squad...

Lloris
Walker Dawson Vertonghern Ekotto
Parker Dembele
Bentley(!) Holtby Sigurdsson
Adebayor
That's right, you heard me correctly. Whilst it is partly in jest, I don't think he'd do any worse than anyone else we could put there as long as he was told that his prime objective was to get balls into the middle rather than try and do everything himself. Most of the time when Bentley played with us he had Defoe, Keane or Crouch (the least effective big man with his head maybe ever) as targets. For a weird reason I think Bentley might be able to spark something in Adebayor.

OK, do your worst.

Only problem being he's on loan at Blackburn...

If he was here I'd be up for it....

But he's at Blackburn!

Bentley is on loan. Not sure if he can be recalled or not. I know we cannot recall Premiership or international loans; I think the rule for the football league is that we can but we need to give a week's notice, except in the case of youth loans (as with Archer). However it also presumably depends on the terms of the loan contract itself.

Personally i would sooner see Fredericks in the side; he is fast and direct, but conscientious as regards his defensive responsibilities, so pretty much a like for like replacement for Lennon. He has sunk under the radar since AVB took over, but he did well for us last season in the Europa, and Harry, who knows a player when he sees one, clearly rated him highly.

The problem is his runs leave us with no striker in the box. Says a lot he only had one shot last night. It would be okay if we had another striker playing with him but I feel his runs limit our penetration. The top quality strikers would make something work in the limited space in the middle rather than constantly pulling out wide.

on the contrary, I remember to good penetrating runs he made last night. One Dembele went for the glory himself, he also had sigurdsson free to his left.
And the other was when Bale had the ball but instead of releasing it to Ade who made a fine penetrating run he decided to do his me V the world thing and ended up getting tackled and falling on his arse:D

as long as the attitude from our players is right, should be a really good game without Bale, and them without Fellaini.

It's Ironic, but it turns out Chelsea beating united has worked out perfectly for us. God knows our squad need a breather after Sunday, to regroup, refresh and heal up!

AVB hopeful of Lennon facing Everton, phew!

He was also raving about Holtbys perfomance so id expect him to start again. Hoping to see the following:

--------------------Lloris---------------------

Walker---Dawson-------Verts-------Benni

--------------Dembele---Parker------------

Lennon--------------Holtby-----------Siggy

----------------------Ade---------------------

Wouldn't be too surprised if Caulker starts at CB alongside Dawson and Verts replaces Benni at lb.

I have to say, i have been thinking how we will get width, and the only options i could think of that didnt mean we would end up with 4 CM's were your one above or Walker at RM (he isnt a RM)
Would also mean that Naughton and BAE are the fullbacks... and that didnt work out well last night

God knows how we will line up, and i am hoping Lennon came off quick enough not to do much damage if any.
Hope Ade can score again, but the rest of his game needs to pick up.

Not doubting what you have said, but where did you hear this?

think it'll be this if lennon is fit(prays). that team is more than good enough to win, without lennon i'll feel much less confident though.

Agreed that Ryan Fredericks could be the best option. He's fast and direct - and being a right winger would pin down Baines more than anyone else that Spurs have got. Having played in Europa League 3 or 4 times last season means he has some first team experience. However AVB has ignored him all season.

The other options include :

David Bentley - as he's on loan ay a championship side he can be recalled and is clearly experienced. However he is slow - and imo could be a liability against Baines.

Adam Smith - RB on loan at Championsip Millwall who again could be recalled. He's very fast and decent cross. Could fill the fast rw if AVB didn't fancy Fredericks for some reason.

Cristian Ceballos - tricky continental sttyle winger. Not sure if he has enough speed to worry Baines enough, but could be interesting choice. Only downside is that he can be quite greedy, not passing to better placed players ala Defoe.

Kenneth McEvoy - Fast tricky RoI u 19 winger. Great potential but not sure he's experienced enough to play now - only just broken into Spurs u21's.

Shaq Coulthirst - Not a winger but a fast forward good at holding up ball and bringing others into play. Think he may make the squad anyway, but he could be another type of option on the right. Think he would fare better than McEvoy but again very young (18) and inexperienced.

However AVB has shown little interest in playing youth this season (imo its a sign of AVB's inexperience - a season or less at each of Academia, Porto, Chelsea and Spurs means he's never had to build up a squad, largely managing players who others have bought at each of the clubs and not previously needed to develop youth by playing them in some matches).

So imo, we might get 1 or 2 youths on the bench, but I'm not sure they will play.

I think Carroll is injured, otherwise I'd bring him into the squad or team.

I'm not optimistic that Lennon will play against Everton, and even question whether Parker will make it, so I see :

Lloris;
Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto;
Livermore/Parker, Dembele;
Holtby, Dempsey, Sigurdsson;
Adebayor

The only other way to get more speed into the flanks would be to play Naughton at RB and bring Walker in at rm allowing Holtby to be brought on as a sub - he tried that once previously with BAE as a left winger in front of Naughton, which was not a good plan so think he could try this one.

However the better solution by far would be to bring in Fredericks as rw, or failing him possibly the very inexperienced Coulthirst as r/forward, with my third choice possibly being Smith (who has plenty of non PL experience) or the inexperienced Ceballos.

Is Benni injured or do you think he will be ousted blake? I hope we keep with Dawson and Vertonghen with Benni at LB personally.

4 Points we have to be looking at against City and Everton. Do-able... But I'm worried about Dembele/Parker being run into the ground.

ousted i think. everton are without fellaini but they'll still lump it long to jelavic and anichebe. also, as stupid as it sounds, caulker can be a big goal threat at the other end of the field, more so than most of our front six.

Yeah I think Vertonghen will be at left back for this. Partly to counter Everton and partly a reflection on BAE.

As for potential wingers, don't think Fredericks is the answer SpursIdol. From what I have seen of him, whilst probably being the quickest of the youth options, he probably has the worst technique out of all of them as well.

Carroll will be back though according to POTL, so would find room in the starting XI for him.
