Yeah I think Vertonghen will be at left back for this. Partly to counter Everton and partly a reflection on BAE.

As for potential wingers, don't think Fredericks is the answer SpursIdol. From what I have seen of him, whilst probably being the quickest of the youth options, he probably has the worst technique out of all of them as well.

Its a compromise - I think he will pin down Baines the best, but I'm not sure his technique is that bad.

ousted i think. everton are without fellaini but they'll still lump it long to jelavic and anichebe. also, as stupid as it sounds, caulker can be a big goal threat at the other end of the field, more so than most of our front six.

I don't think that sounds stupid, my only fear is whether we can deliver it to Caulker!

I still think we'd be better off Benni at LB and Vertonghen in the centre.

With Lennon and Bale out, we have fuck-all pace in attack (except for perhaps walker, but we're in trouble if we're relying on our rb to be our most attacking player)

We also don't have a decent central midfield ball-player to keep our passing game ticking over (boy do we miss Modric)

Anyway, with that in mind, I'd go for a narrow formation, with a couple of guys playing off Adebayor who can hit it from range:

-------------------------Lloris----------------------

Walker-------Dawson-------Verts------------BAE

--------Holtby-----------Hudd-------Parker--------

-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------Siggy-------Dembele------------

------------------------Adebayor-------------------

Play in a really direct, narrow style, up to the big-man with the boys behind given shoot-on-site instructions

It'll work better than trying to play an intricate passing game with players who lack creativity, pace or flair

PS Hudd's including for his range of passing. With Holtby and Parker either side of him, his lack of mobility shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Really need Walker and Vertongehn to get forward well but that's about the best we can do team wise IMO. Definitely physical enough with plenty of work rate in that side. Tom Carroll being the one to hopefully spark something with some nice passing - we'll need it because of our lack of width.

I honestly think that side is well equipped to deal with Everton, and we might just create a few chances as well. Keep the ball well and take a chance or two that comes our way and we have a decent chance of taking the points.

Tempting to shake it up with Carroll who, despite his size, is very good at keeping posession and playing a pass.

The team I want to see with what is available, but I'm almost certain Livermore will be ahead of Carroll, but think we need Carroll to step up to offer some creativity given our lack of width. I also think this will be a big game for Walker and Sig to step up and offer us something.

Despite wanting to see us play it last season, and hoping that AVB might implement it this season playing 4-3-3 without Lennon and Bale in the side is just not going to work. First of all, it's possibly the hardest system to coach, so chucking out a hotch potch of whoever we have left fit enough to play in a new system is asking for trouble.

If you play 4-3-3 with Dembele / Sig / Holtby on the wings they are just going to drift infield like the CMs they naturally are, leaving Ade up top completely isolated, with no vertical penetration whatsoever. No one running in behind stretching the defence, just a convention for central midfielders on the halfway line. It will be like Spain in Euro 2012 with lesser players, until even they realised they needed Torres / Pedro / Navas to come on and add some verticality to make their possession pay out.

We need someone in behind Ade to provide some sort of link, I think AVB will play Dempsey, but I'm thinking Siggy or Holtby in the no10 slot backed up by Livermore and Parker behind (really think Carroll is more a 4-3-3 type and he has been injured so maybe not on Sunday depsite me being a big fan with high hopes).

Nervous about this one.

Our strongest 11, with Verts, arguably the best goal-scorer remaining on the squad, being placed in a midfield role. Playing Livermore and Dempsey is just asking for points to be dropped. We cannot afford to have them start if we want to win games.

Ade did well last night considering how average most of our lot were, he looked well up for the game and took the goal well. I'm going to clutch this straw for a little while longer and say I think Ade will relish being one of the main men again and finally show some form.

Team I want:
Ade
Sig--------------------Holtby
Carroll---Dembele
Livermore
Ekotto - Vertonghen - Dawson - Walker
LLoris
With Cebellos and McEvoy on the bench and the first coming on, Cebellos reminds me of that kids toy where the top half is duck and the bottom a sphere and it gets bounces back everytime you push it. As for being too weak, if Cebellos is too weak then there a few too weak in our academy like Pritchard who is smaller!
This is what the team will be imo:
Ade
Sig------Dempsey----Holtby
Parker---Dembele
Ekotto - Vertonghen - Dawson - Walker
LLoris
With the CM going on walkies whilst pressing the ball we will left exposed on the counter

So Lennon may be ok for the weekend, as it was only a bruised knee.

Gives the game a better outlook.

EDIT : was POTL's info after the AVB comments about Lennon being a possible for Everton?

Carroll over Livermore, if AVB even had the thought cross his mind.

Livermore cannot start. Dempsey is worthless but we have like no one else so he'll probably play.

I actually think that isn't a bad shout.
