Surely Chadli on the left and Dembele on the right....I'd go along with that.

With Christian on lead vocals...Chadli to the left of me, Dembele to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you...

I think this is the team Timmy will pick although it's a toss up for me whether he'll go Chadli,Dembele,Lennon, Townsend or Sigurdson. Our Tim is a bit unpredictable in a predictable (Bentelab) kind of way.

I hope Lamela recovers and gets a "put up or shut up" speech from Tim and locks in the right wing slot which Lennon and Townsend squandered away!

Pretty certain this is the team Tim will pick:

Lloris

Naughton
Kaboul
Vertonghen
Rose

Sandro
Bentaleb

Lennon
Eriksen
Chadli

Adebayor

Siggy might be rewarded for his good performance and winner with a spot in the team ahead of Lennon. This might be a bit narrow, but at the moment our genuine wide players (Lennon and Townsend) are producing the square route of fuck all so it might actually look like we have 11 men on the pitch. I wouldn't be shocked to see:

Lloris
Naughton Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Sandro
Sigurdsson Bentaleb
Chadli ___________ Eriksen
Adebayor

Maybe mate, although if Sherwood does drop Lennon/Townsend...I'd say JS's line up is more likely if Dembele is fit.

Difficult one.

-----------Lloris-----------
Naughton-Kabs-Verts-Fryers
------Dembele-Sandro------
----Chadli--------Eriksen---
--------Ade----Soldado----

One of the strikes dropping deep while defending but I guess we have to attack them as they are weak at the back. Lets win 6-5

Subs: Friedel, Townsend, Rose, Bentaleb, Paulinho, Sig, Kane

Sorry Daws & Lennon

I wouldn't disagree with that formation, nothing wrong with a 442/4411/451 formation, as long as the players know when to switch, and that is the issue.

Soldado may be perfect as the deep striker in a 4411 formation.

Brazilian circa '94...

-----------------------Lloris-----------------------
----------------------------------------------------
Walker?------Kaboul-------Vertonghen-----Rose
-----------------------------------------------------
--------------Sandro-------Bentelab--------------
----------------------------------------------------
-----------Chadli------------------Eriksen--------
--------------------------Adebayor----------------
-----------------Soldado--------------------------

Sandro and Bentelab holding. Appears quite narrow, but would expect Chadli, Eriksen and Adebayor to drift around Soldado at the point of the attack.

Thought you would of gone for Dembele on the right, Chadli left and Eriksen in front of Sandro and Bentaleb.

In a 4231 that would be very likely. And in a 4231 I would have Eriksen CAM mist times, but against Liverpool we have to go 433, and a strong 433 too. You could put Eriksen ALM and Chadli right I guess, or let them alternate maybe ?

Yes, good point...4-3-3 against Liverpool is definitely the way to go.

If Dembele is fit enough I think I'd just go with what you've done but put him in for Paulinho. Really don't think he offers enough off the ball and Dembele, every so often, turns in a really strong performance. You know when he's shielding it for fun and they just can't get it off him, could be very helpful in a game of this difficulty where they'll come at us very strong. He can also tackle better.

Paulinho offers more going forward but with Eriksen, Chaldi and Adebayor I wouldn't be too worried about that.

You not think a fit Dembele would offer more strength to our midfield overall than Paulinho? Personally I think he's one eye on the world cup anyway.

I think Dembele struggles against vigorous pressing, and Liverpool have a nasty habit of coming out the traps like greyhounds.

Do you know why Sandro didn't play Sunday ?

Yeah, just that he had played nearly the full game against Arsenal and then played out in Benfica - so they decided he needed more recovery due to just being back from that lay off. So he'll be good to go for Sunday.

Fair enough on Dembele, although I'd still go for him ahead of Paulinho but if he's not fit enough then Paulinho it is. Don't get me wrong I like Paulinho when we're on the ball and getting forward just have been a bit surprised at his lack of drive and overall appetite to compete at times.

I read somewhere that Liverpool have 25 more goals and 3% less possession at this stage of the season compared to the same point last season. I think Rodgers is much more flexible now than when he was at Swansea and realizes that goals win games, not good looking passing from one side to the other.

I'd agree with many on here who suggest a narrower-looking formation in exchange for playing Soldado, Adebayor, and Eriksen together. Our wingers haven't been doing it anyway, so playing Bentaleb, Sandro and another (Chadli or Dembele) in midfield would match up well against Liverpool, who don't deploy wingers because their players are so mobile. Dare I say it, they run about a bit, which promotes dynamism and penetration of attack.

One thing seems clear from Liverpool's approach this season and that is if we start as we did against the Saints it'll be over before we get going. And if/when we concede one, we need to really ramp up the intensity immediately afterward rather than the conventional wisdom of trying to calm things down. They're so aggressive in attack now, there's no real point in thinking we can stroke it around for 5 or 10 minutes after a goal. We need to get at their defense as quickly as possible, so playing for possession's sake is a losing strategy.

I'm not optimistic because we've lost every match this year against teams better than us. And on this season's form, Liverpool are better than us. But, I'd like to see us have a real go at them rather than play some sort of packed midfield rubbish that will negate any sense of attack from us.

Nothing would please me more than to kick a massive dent in their title aspirations.

Liverpool pretty much played a diamond formation against Cardiff, if we don't want to be chasing shadows we should probably try to match it. Especially since the brunt of their attack will come through the middle. I'd go with this:

Lloris
Naughton--Kaboul--Vertonghen--Rose
--Sandro--
Bentaleb--Chadli
Eriksen
Soldado--Adebayor
Think that formation would better suit our performing players anyway, given how shit our wingers have been. Only problem is our fullbacks are pretty shit too and might be exposed but playing with awful wingers doesn't really rectify that.

Great minds..., except I put Chadli rather than Dembele in midfield.

I like the team in your sig as well. Pjanic and Konoplyanka would be great signings for us.
