I have been a season ticket holder since 1999 and a member since 1984. After spending thousands and thousands of pounds on my beloved Spurs that is me done. I have done my time and feel its some other poor sod to take my seat. Of course I will always support Spurs and I will still be a member but to be honest I just don't enjoy it as much as I did.

I think yesterday was the final straw as I received the renewal pack through in the week and I have been umming and arring about it. Yesterday made my mind up really. At least my wife will be pleased!

To be honest its football as a whole rather than the issues at our own club that gets me down. Despite what people tell me and sky lead you to believe I don't think the football is anywhere near as good as it used to be. I dont like the majority of the players anymore and it seems the heart has been ripped out of the game. Christ I'm not even looking forward to the Euros in the summer the thought of cheering on the likes of Terry, Cole, and Lampard really doesn't appeal. They are all tossers.

Money has ruined the game I loved so much and the fact you now get tin pot clubs like Chelsea and City get taken over by some billionaire and outspend everyone else is just wrong. What is the point!

The fact that finishing 4th is seen as some great achievement even better than winning something doesn't sit right with me and just can't get my head around that concept. Bill Nick and Danny must be turning in their grave!

Anyway I am done.

I totally get where you're coming from, it's hard not to get disillusioned - it's all about money and that's only getting worse.

Season Ticket holder since 1984 so pretty much the same time although been going since 1974.

I have total sympathy in what you say. All it takes is for another foreign zillionnaire to step in and take over Villa/Leeds/Dagenham/whoever and the roundabout all takes off again.

There was a caller on Five Live last night suggesting that Atkinson's decision was so obviously wrong that he must have been bribed. I actually don't believe that for the FA Cup as it doesn't matter that much to Abramovich but I did wonder about the linesman against Wigan!

I will renew for next season and there will always be those moments when it seems worthwhile - this season home against Liverpool, Ars*nal, Villa and Newcastle for a start - but money rules!

yes i totally agree with you....NOT

this is without a doubt the BEST time to be a Spurs fan since the 60's.

really do think you expectations are way too high and you think this is us failing and doing rubbish, you need to get real.

Sorry to read your post mate. Last few weeks have not been good for me and here I am sat here today thinking about not renewing my ST. In the same place as you, but not decided yet.

oh boo hoo we don't have as much money to spend like the bigger boys? get a grip.

That's hardly the point of the post is it? He's just stating what a lot of people agree with that the heart is slowly being ripped out of football and that most of the players are jumped up pr*cks who are completely out of touch and it's easy to get disillusioned.

I agree that football in general has changed a lot and certainly not always for the best either. It's more of a business than a sport nowadays and money definitely buys success. It's not a level playing field any more.

I don't know where we go as a club from here. We need a new stadium, we need a few more top class players (can we hold on to those we already have after what's been happening over the past few months?) but that's just us.

I will never abandon my support though because Spurs are in my blood and I can't forget those halcyon days of the 1960s when we were something very special. For a while, I thought we were going to be something special this season too but, sadly, the promise we showed has faded away.

I can understand why some fans have had enough but I'll stick around and suffer while I keep the faith.

I feel sorry for you more than anything if you've fallen out of love with football.

Personally I think you should suck it up and accept the changes. I don't mean that in a dickhead way because I think your thoughts are totally logical, I actually agree and I think most people feel the same to different extents but the state of the game isn't going to change to how you want it to be and I can't help but feel that your mindset on the issue is going to result in you not enjoying a sport that is still in my opinion brilliantly entertaining.

I agree football is losing its way a bit. I don't look forward to international football anymore, I think domestic cups have lost the appeal and Europa league is a poorly run competition. Champions League can be exciting at times but that is also slowly losing the appeal with most teams just happy to turn up and get the money rather than attempt to win the damn thing. Money is ruining football and so are plastic fans, it is cringeworthy to see those City fans week in week out with Aguero on their back doing their stupid celebration, give them a few years and they will be back supporting United or whatever team are spending big and winning things.

I think the German league could overtake the English league in a few years, they seem to have many exciting youngsters coming through, as it is shown with their international team and the development they have put in over the last 10 years. Plus they have attracted some bigger international stars to the league. I think we need something similar, a good amount of youth prospects coming through the ranks because the way we are going, I think we will decline rapidly as an international team soon and fail to qualify on a regular basis if we can't produce the talent and our domestic league is congested with foreign talent. I guess we have started to see imporvements with the 25 squad rule and the number of home grown players you need but still clubs need to be doing more to promote home grown talent and give them more of a chance. I guess we have a few coming through, we could potentially have in the squad next season: Walker, Bale, Townsend, Caulker, Naughton and Livermore, which would be good, Bale and Walker are pretty much part of Wales and England international team for many years to come and there is no reason the other four can't force their way into our team and maybe get a chance at international level.

The 80's and all the Silverware we won were better than the last 3 years as far as I'm concerned

We have the Silverware to show for it too

I have absolutely no sympathy for the OP. Whinging, pathetic post. You don't want to spend your money on Spurs, you have that right, but don't get the violins out about it. Money ruined that game? Tell that to anyone who has watched Lionel Messi weave his magic this year, or to Swansea fans in the top flight for the first time in years. Was money ruining the game a few months ago when we were flying high and the whole of England were aaying we were the team to watch? Was that something Billy Nic and Danny would have been poud of?

We've lost a few games, taken some body blows, but that's what football and life is about sometimes. Tottenham Hotspur will survive, one way or another, and I will always follow us through thick and thin.

If winning is the most important thing for you, then you shouldn't waste your money on a Spurs season ticket.

What we do consistently lead the league in, is drama. It's a rollercoaster supporting Spurs. We're in the eye of the storm right now, so its hard to put things in perspective, but the run of amazing form turned to poor form is something only our club could achieve. It's spectacular. It's Spurs.

If winning is the important thing, you have to support United, or maybe City. But I think I'd be bored shitless if I was a United fan. Where do you go when you've won everything? You either do it again or do worse. Par or underachieve year after year.

But at Spurs, we always have targets just out of reach. I desperately wanted an FA Cup final. I desperately wanted to finish above Arsenal. We've still got all that to look forward to doing next season. Something to drive us on. The stories that unfold at Spurs are full of drama, (lasagnegate?). If we achieved everything we wanted every season, it would lose it's gloss. It would become meaningless.

Is supporting spurs gut wrenching/humiliating/anger enducing/weekend ruining? Yes, it often is. But all we need is a hint of glory for all the anguish to be forgotten. We get a taste from time to time. In the CL against the Milans, most recently. The harder it is to attain, the better it feels. And it will feel fucking amazing next time we actually reach our target.

It depends whether you follow a sports team to make yourself feel good, or to be taken on a crazy ride. I totally understand if you want to get off the ride at the next stop. But what if you miss out on witnessing something truly great......?

Very much agree with OP. I love Spurs, but not sure I can invest so much emotion in the club as I don't love football.
