Damn. Wish I was going to the Espanyol game now for another 1882 trip have a good one people, give Paulinho, Soldado and Chadli a proper good reception !
dirty dicks ftw
As Nicola Berti says, there's about 7/8 (at the moment) of us meeting in Dirty Dicks at about 12, and there will be loads of people in the Brickies from about 3.
Thank goodness. Got a mate over from the States so I'm taking him to his first Spurs game but we've got tickets in the Paxton. Gonna have to take him to this in order to show him that not all Spurs fans are quiet.
Dirty Dicks won't be anything rowdy, it's more of a chilled afternoon talking football. Brickies will be loud!
Listening to the fighting cock podcast. Not sure I understand what they want.
Don't want a new/bigger stadium. But want cheaper ticket prices for family's & kids. Doesn't make sense??
The "1882 movement" quite literally started as an off the cuff thing. We had an away match in the FA Youth Cup at Charlton, and a group of people from The Fighting Cock thought it would be great fun to go to a pub pre-match, turn up at the game, sing non-stop for 90 minutes, and generally have a good time. As it happened, word spread, and about 200 to 300 Spurs fans were there. It went off fantastically, and as soon as the game finished, people wanted to know when the next game would be.
The idea started as going to youth team games, but has since spread to the lower key first team games where we can all buy together (usually block J) and we will just sing. The website have direct links with the club, so perhaps in the long run, there could be a block permanently dedicated to the movement, but in essence, it would simply be a singing block. That is still a long way off however, and for now it's quite simply a bunch of like minded Spurs fans having a f*cking good time at games we would usually not go to (I'm talking about the youth games here).
Will 1880 make an appearance when we play the georgians at the Lane in a few weeks?
if we were ever like this at home, when losing, against anyone but london clubs or united then it was before my time. it is sad because people still try to start chants in these situations and there's no take up. i really don't get why more people can't have teh attitude of our away fans when they're at the LaneSad that a specific campaign is needed to persuade our supporters to back the team and not just be passive consumers. Time was when White Hart Lane was like that every week. Still, good on you lads.

I think the club is probably hesitant. It has worked with 1882 to allocate blocks at some games, but I think that the trouble with publicising it through the club is it may encourage unsavoury types who thinks that smoke bombs, abuse and so on are what qualify as good support. Also, it's the clubs policy that there is no standing and at most 1882 events we stand for the majority of the match. I think that would certainly have to be addressed before any endorsement emerged.
Having said that, after the 1882 games in most of the publicity material, be it website reports, programme notes, or interviews with players/manager/staff there is always always some effort to recognise the strength of fan support in those games. So that could well be the club's way of giving a nod to it.
Nothing to do with being fun. The club disapproves of smoke bombs, standing, swearing et al, so if you are going to get them onside that these are hurdles to jump. Expecting the club to potentially accommodate 1882 and similar movements without this having to be addressed is unrealistic in my opinion.Well your no fun are ya!
