As Nicola Berti says, there's about 7/8 (at the moment) of us meeting in Dirty Dicks at about 12, and there will be loads of people in the Brickies from about 3.

Thank goodness. Got a mate over from the States so I'm taking him to his first Spurs game but we've got tickets in the Paxton. Gonna have to take him to this in order to show him that not all Spurs fans are quiet.

Dirty Dicks won't be anything rowdy, it's more of a chilled afternoon talking football. Brickies will be loud!

Listening to the fighting cock podcast. Not sure I understand what they want.

Don't want a new/bigger stadium. But want cheaper ticket prices for family's & kids. Doesn't make sense??

My understanding is that they want to be a catalyst for the atmosphere to improve all over the stadium - at the moment, like-minded people are buying tickets together for those matches that won't immediately sell out and loudly support the team, regardless of the result.

There's nothing wrong with getting a new stadium - I think there are just concerns that the atmosphere might degrade further than it already has over the past few years (see the Emirates for reference). Ideally, the new stadium would have a safe standing section to facilitate this. A return of a 'schoolboy section' where younger fans could get cheap tickets would also help - the demographic at WHL and elsewhere in the Premiership is far too old and like it or not, those young'uns have more energy to get behind the team and become the hardcore fans of the future.

I've gone to all but 1 of the 1882 games and they have been amazing. I've never had so much fun supporting Spurs than at the Charlton away match in the youth cup - we want that level of noise/fun/banter/support at every match!

Read the article below - Grandads are welcome too - we just want more Spurs fans to sing for the shirt!

The "1882 movement" quite literally started as an off the cuff thing. We had an away match in the FA Youth Cup at Charlton, and a group of people from The Fighting Cock thought it would be great fun to go to a pub pre-match, turn up at the game, sing non-stop for 90 minutes, and generally have a good time. As it happened, word spread, and about 200 to 300 Spurs fans were there. It went off fantastically, and as soon as the game finished, people wanted to know when the next game would be.

The idea started as going to youth team games, but has since spread to the lower key first team games where we can all buy together (usually block J) and we will just sing. The website have direct links with the club, so perhaps in the long run, there could be a block permanently dedicated to the movement, but in essence, it would simply be a singing block. That is still a long way off however, and for now it's quite simply a bunch of like minded Spurs fans having a f*cking good time at games we would usually not go to (I'm talking about the youth games here).

A dedicated block would be fantastic but more likely in the new stadium. Would really help boost atmosphere and encourage others to sing, bring back the older times.

Will 1880 make an appearance when we play the georgians at the Lane in a few weeks?

Unfortunately not.

This game is included in season tickets, so we wouldn't be able to get a block allocated.

I believe it is the first 3 cup games that are included on the ST (?), so after these are sorted, I fully expect 1882 to be at every Europa League game.

Sad that a specific campaign is needed to persuade our supporters to back the team and not just be passive consumers. Time was when White Hart Lane was like that every week. Still, good on you lads.
if we were ever like this at home, when losing, against anyone but london clubs or united then it was before my time. it is sad because people still try to start chants in these situations and there's no take up. i really don't get why more people can't have teh attitude of our away fans when they're at the Lane

I wouldn't get too down about the lack of stadium-wide chanting, to be honest. Great atmospheres at football matches pre-date mass singing and chanting. It's always relied heavily on light and shade; contrast between loud and quiet; visceral oohs and ahhs; spontaneity. Lots of people, like me, watch quietly but intently; it's just the way we are - we yell and scream at certain times, sing a bit too, roar even. Like that roar you get when the pressure's mounting and you've got another corner and you just sense that the other team is on the ropes. You just yell. Like the roar when the teams come out. Not everything has to be coordinated, and it just makes what 1882 are doing all the more special because it adds to a rich and diverse matchday experience.

The real enemy, for me, are the people who slag players off, even worse when they're within earshot. Or who barely pay attention. Or who maintain a constant stream of whinging and invective throughout the game. Then they assert their right to do whatever they like because they pay good money. Well, so do others, and they don't want their enjoyment spoiled by someone else's negativity.

Anyway, all power to 1882, keep up the good work.

I love this whole 1882 movement and what they are trying to achieve, do you think if there was some more direct involvement from the club i.e. more exposure on the club website and getting together with the main organisers of the group to come up with ways of getting larger numbers involved and having an overall positive effect on the atmosphere in WHL. I know that an organised atmosphere is not everyone's cup of tea but just having sections of fans more organised in general would surely spread throughout the stadium, it could make home games extremely intimidating for visiting teams, i mean look at the atmosphere in Tbilisi the other night and they were getting tonked! Anyone on this site that have club connections that would be interested in this? What are your thoughts?

I think the club is probably hesitant. It has worked with 1882 to allocate blocks at some games, but I think that the trouble with publicising it through the club is it may encourage unsavoury types who thinks that smoke bombs, abuse and so on are what qualify as good support. Also, it's the clubs policy that there is no standing and at most 1882 events we stand for the majority of the match. I think that would certainly have to be addressed before any endorsement emerged.

Having said that, after the 1882 games in most of the publicity material, be it website reports, programme notes, or interviews with players/manager/staff there is always always some effort to recognise the strength of fan support in those games. So that could well be the club's way of giving a nod to it.

Nothing to do with being fun. The club disapproves of smoke bombs, standing, swearing et al, so if you are going to get them onside that these are hurdles to jump. Expecting the club to potentially accommodate 1882 and similar movements without this having to be addressed is unrealistic in my opinion.

All I can say is that the club have been excellent in giving us what we've asked for. We've been careful not to put them in a difficult position and not to extend our influence. All we are trying to do is to get like minded fans together to enjoy watching Spurs.

So far it's worked well.
