“I think that's the toughest game I've seen in 24 years for a referee” Those were the words of former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher when looking back on the infamous Battle of the Bridge. The match was actually officiated by Gallagher's one-time colleague Mark Clattenburg, who later admitted he should have sent off at least three players in the clash at Stamford Bridge.

Would be great to "do em" at the weekend
See they're up to their old tricks of grabbing every player with known qualities they can. Including our long negotiated Italian zaniola

Will be interested to see how Tuchel does. Feel like it might be falling apart for them a year earlier than usual.

I wonder if any of the players Clattenburg wished he'd sent off were Chelsea's. I somehow doubt it.

Yes, fabregas should have been sent of for cynically grabbing lamella's studs.
And Costa for trying to break dembele's finger with his eye socket.

Jest aside, Fabregas - as I recall the events - showed the most unsportsmanlike conduct I´ve ever witnessed throughout the match. He was clearly the "brain" behind it all out on the pitch. Lamela should´ve rabona´d his privates, not his hand.

Clattenberg lost complete control of the game in the first half letting Chelsea players off bookings and in one case a red card. It’s what led to it becoming such a disgraceful game. Just an all round appalling officiating performance.
