This for me sums up Spurs scouts/evaluation issues:

"The one we chose last year was Boateng, the second one was Keita and our scouts went to Germany and France but we offered half the money Tottenham proposed for Boateng."

This is from the president of Seville.

We paid TWICE as much as KPB was worth. Now on the pitch he does look like a player we overpaid for.

Why is everyone so happy about this? Just because our directors know how to drum up cash (a lot of which is from gouging fans), does not mean we should give them a gold star for flushing it down the toilet.

Lol. You are a winner. You argue with direct quotes.

You are basically calling the President of Sevilla wrong. Not me. They evaluated him at half the price we did.

We bullishly splashed the cash on all of these youngsters without remembering we can't develop young players for shit.

for me , the jury is still out on how good/bad Kaboul and Boatang will be, so i'm not in a position to say if they are a waste of money or not

KPB is not worth the price - i agree with GIbbs on this. He's not half the player we want and has been out of his depth whenever he has played.

That isn't to say Modric would be a similar case.

how do you know he won't come good in the near future? he's only played a dozen games or so, and if we made judgements on new signings based on a handful of games or so we would never have any kind of settled squad, would we?
he must be given at least another season before any of us can judge whether he's not worth the price imho

I base these players on the fact that they don't need to be coached. They are already proven, solid, captain, leader material and don't have history of pubbing, clubbing etc etc.

I did this a while back so a few of these players may have already been transfered:

Richard Dunn okay for a squad player
Gareth Barry will cost £15m because of Liverpool wanting him and Villa wanting to keep him
Jimmy Bullard lol squad player at most, althogh I rate him
Raul Albiol. Can play defender or defensive midfielder. Spanish link helps. well havent seen him

Frey is a realistic GK for Robbo competition/replacement. Frey is prob. the most unrelistic replacement for Robbo you can think of. Milan leading th chase from a whole host of clubs

Simon Rolfes (left winger who can actually track back)

Judging by the vids he looks no better then simon Davies

Arda Turan would cost peanuts and would be great prospect
in front of Bale on the left. One of the best crossers in his age group. A left foot? Can cross? Plays as a natural winger? YES PLEASE! Again their are actually a lot of intrested clubs.......but I cant coment Ive never seen him play

David Silva also would be great on the left for us.
He will cost more then Modric!!!

Also this thread I put up agaes ago still stands (apart from the obvious)

I have nothing against Modric. I am amazed that we paid that much money for a player who plays week in and week out in a Div 2 level team. And someone of small stature which means that Lennon, Malbs and Modric will not work in the same team (so that cuts out our highest scoring midfielders).

We have NO problem creating or scoring goals. We scored more than nearly everyone outside the top4. So the cries for a creator in the midfield are a little baffling.

DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE set pieces, leadership and steel is our problem.

And Modric provides none of those things. In fact his presence will add to those issues.

And he cost us so much that it will price us out on targets we REALLY need.

Now if you were to be really, really, really cynical we are setting ourselves up for a cheap buyout due to us not being quite the instant money making team that was predicted a year ago. But that is a WHOLE other conspiracy theory involving cheaper shares etc to buyout. Eek Hence the infatuation with young players/lack of instant impact which the buyer (of the cheap shares) will reap rewards down the line. But even for me that is cynical and could neeever be the case right?

OK let's start by saying there's been rumours about a takeover at Spurs for the last couple of years so that somewhat blows your 'theory' out of the water. This is just another link that may or may not come off.

Secondly that story is from the Daily Mirror...that most reliable of red-tops. Due you really want to arrogantly swan around based on a half story from a tabloid?

And thirdly...do you have any idea how ridiculous that theory is? Seriously.

Well. Yes. Lol. What part of really, really, really cynical did you miss? I even said really three times. God damn you must be thick!

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttttttttttttttttt: As you were typing this we just signed another 16 year old starlet. See my previous "obsessed with signing youngsters" ref. It is all part of the Spurs pitch when they go to sell. "Man Utd were after him blah blah blah". 5 years from now blah blah blah...Investment...blah blah blah.
