A) Modric > Gerrard based on current ability. Gerrard is not the same player he was.

B) It would help Gerrard's case if he actually participated in a football match every now and then.

It's certainly not a joke. He's been an absolute colossus for about 10 years. Yeah, he's on his way down and there's something dodgy going on with him at the moment, but there's no way Modric is better than Gerrard.

Being completely impartial, I'm struggling to think of any team in Europe that's not in the CL who would be favourites against us. By that token I think it's fair enough to say players like Bale, Modric and VdV would be in with a good chance of making any team comprising players not in the CL. And it also shows us the importance of qualifying next season as those sorts of players deserve to play at the highest level. Clearly Modric didn't go about it the right way this summer but no-one's going to argue that he doesn't deserve to be at a Champions League team...

...which is lucky because we're going to win the Premier League, Euro 2012 and Olympic Women's Taekwondo treble this year then beast the CL next year with a goal difference of a billion.

Gerrard hasn't been playing for them at all recently (for one reason or another) so watching them doesn't make a difference. The fact is Gerrard has pretty much single-handedly won Liverpool a Champions League and the odd FA Cup etc. whilst keeping them in the top 4 and in the odd title race for years. On his own. He was not long ago considered as one of the best players in the world and has achieved stuff Modric can only dream of. He's reached a level Modric will never be on no matter how good I think the little lesbian is. Maybe Modric is more valuable now, but no way a better player. No chance.

that I would consider swapping for Modric
and then I would have to slap myself very hard
for even considering it.

Modric would grace any team in Europe on current form.

it's clearly been put in the present tense. gerrard in his day was of course better than luka. but now? no way.


yea rooney is better than luka i guess, but luka is more consistent... it's not like rooney has one game off and one game on, he kinda has 10 games off then 20 games on.

Last season was him getting used to the premiership, this season he has at times been unplayable, like we witnessed when he played us.
