Be prepared.

And I think we should be prepared for the worst case scenario. The theft of "The crown Jewels".

The thought of starting the season next year with Bent and Keane up front sends me into a blind panic and cannot be allowed to happen.

All I hope is that DC was a boy scout (or what ever the French version is) and has a backup plan in place.

Chelsea are sniffing round Villa and Bent Arry is trying to woo crouch back to the south coast whilst we appear to be crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.

Also Levy needs to be throwing the kitchen sink at Berba to ensure he stays as well as proving the clubs ambitions by getting in a real quality DM and RW.

If Berba leaves we will need someone who is able to hold the ball up as well chip in with their fair share. A striker like that, i am sure you all agree, is hard to come by.

There is a finite supply of real striking talent out there and we need to be sure we dont get caught out ala Carrick.

i dont think by reading papers you can make a clear judgement on which club is going after which player. The crouch and villa stories coud well be a load of horse shit.

And as for us " crossing our fingers and hoping for the best", you have no way whatsoever knowing that is the case, having said that though, do you not think we are already thinking about next season? Did u not see Juandes interview yesterday on sky stating we need heavy investment to challenge for the top 4? isn't saying we must do all we can to keep Berba stating the obvious? of course we lill fight to keep him. It's a given.

If Berba was to go I'm sure we'd be compensated well enough to replace him with another of Europe's top strikers. In a perfect world we already have the right man but the world isn't perfect.

Hi Dougal :) I can't share your confidence I'm afraid - for every Berbatov there is a Rebrov - for every Drogba a Schevchenko - for every Woodgate a - well take your pick :)

we'll get the money - the success of the purchase .....mmmm - luckily we have Bent & Keane but if Bent gets injured mmmm we're *****

Well, buying a new player is always a risk, that's why I said the right man is already there :)

Darren Bent probably has been the most disappointing signing this season but he has had mitigating circumstances.

A fully fit Bent with someone like Diego behind him putting the ball through the channels would work really well.

If Berbatov goes though we still need a first choice, first class replacement. They are out there - Alves at Boro may be an example.

I'd sooner saw off my limbs with a cutting device fashioned from discarded traffic cones and some goats cheese than see Alves in a Spurs shirt.

ha ha, agreed. In my eyes there are very few adequate Berby replacements out there.

I am worried.

If Berby was to leave it would mean we would have to change the way we played. The creativity would have to come from other places. There is no direct replacement for Berby.

I quite agree, and it's for just those reasons that we won't really know how good we could be next season, until all of this is cleared up, one way or the other...... :?

Even if Berbatov stays we should be looking for creativity from other places.... when i say that i mean the midfeild.

should let both Keane and Berbatov get on to what they do best.

I'm starting to think Peter Crouch will be his replacement.

Certainly fits the bill but we have to beat Arry to punch if we want him. I am not sure he is going to like being told that we only want him if Berba goes.
