Didn't Roger Morgan say we had sent in a bid for Remy. But their president said we didn't and now's gone to l'OM. Fax machine issue I'd imagine.

I do think Huntelaar is a considerably worse player than both Keane and Pav.

None of our forwards actually have much pace (even Defoe doesn't after the first 2 yards), but Huntelaar makes Sheringham look nippy (even at 44).

Our striking balance is so bad - we have no hold up play (Crouch may win balls but doesn't hold on to them), limited link up play, no genuine pace and no-one really prolific. We just have a batch of striking mediocrity and Huntelaar wont improve on that.

I know we can improve on our strikers (Keane/Pav/defoe), but it is much harder to improve on Crouch in terms of what he offers. Kanoute's and Berbatov's are really hard to find. Just compare Crouch with Torres. As a creator of direct assists and scorer Crouch is definitely inferior. But as a hold up and bring other people into play he compares surprising well. For example
he (2209 minutes-593 accurate passes) made just about twice as many accurate passes per time on the pitch than Torres (1715 mins -259) did in 2009-10. The problem for Crouch is that he's great at receiving and holding and laying off but finds it very difficult to turn with the ball once received.
But still, this clearly demonstrates that Crouch "can hold the ball" and retain possession for the team.

For the record I've been watching as much footage of Tiovonen tonight as I hadn't seen much of him. He actually looks quite interesting and could be a very viable alternative for the lone striker - hold up and score role.

He seems strong, can score on the deck and head and for a tall lad can move well with the ball. I'm still not sure how clever he is and how much he will create for others ? Thowig/DP ?

What does it say about Harrys faith in Sandro that he has spent half the summer trying to buy Scott bleedin Parker?

It's more the lack of faith in Jenas tbh. He's a vastly experienced Premier League player who Harry would like in the squad. Sandro is a young prospect who will need time to adapt and develop further.
