This is a story that has not fully played out yet:

Lewis Hamilton: Mercedes driver to decide on F1 future after Abu Dhabi inquiry

I think F1 needs Hamilton to return, a lot more than Hamilton needs F1 right now.

I hope this is just Hamilton exerting some leverage, but I would understand if he was ready to walk away after the fiasco at last year's final race.

If Hamilton does walk away under these circumstance, it will be a black eye on the sport - which is a shame, given its recent growth in popularity. I don't know what the FIA need to do to satisfy Hamilton, but it should probably start by dropping threats to punish him for not showing up to the awards ceremony. There probably needs to be an acknowledgement that the rules were not followed properly in Abu Dhabi, and that steps will be taken to ensure that does not happen again.
I think the F1 chiefs would be happy if he walked away to be honest. He's too political for them, and there's too much new money coming from the Middle East. They won't want him upsetting the gravy train.

We've got 2k laid for the family to go to Silverstone next (this) year. We've been umming and ahhing for years and finally bit the bullet. To say 'that' incident has deflated things is an understatement.

I think if Lewis can manage to get himself up mentally and get that 8th then he is without doubt the G.O.A.T

I haven’t thought about F1 all over Xmas and new year.
Now this thread has been bumped I’m still proper pissed off at that farce of a final race.

I think he already is to be honest. That title was stolen from him last year, and at least one of Schumacher’s titles was tainted.

He’s already got the most wins, and poles too.

Yep he’s the GOAT whatever but would be sweet if he does one more season and wins his 8th. The final race was an absolute travesty.

The problem for Lewis - there are going to be so many changes this year with the new regulations, there is no guarantee that Mercedes have the top car. Other teams - Ferrari and McLaren - were spending more time developing the 2022 car last year, while Red Bull and Mercedes had to keep one eye on the championship last year.

Mercedes should still be on top - but, its really going to be an unknown until the first race weekend. (I assume all the teams will be sandbagging at both pre-season sessions)

Upsetting the way F1 is heading just like football has done.

I know money has always been rife in F1 but now with the middle east money that is a whole entire different story and as you say they won't want him upsetting the gravy train. Sad state of affairs.

Hope Masi is sacked and Lewis comes back to fight for his 8th title.

Big conversations this week.

The season ended a month ago, why is the investigation only starting now?

Aston Martin to launch 1st 2022 car , if it looks like the rendering, it looks rather bloody lovely.

Think that’s just their livery on the 2022 prototype car that F1 released a few months ago to show what cars would look like with the new regs.

We will get a proper look at their car on 10th of February.

I won’t ever be watching a race again. What’s the point. You can invest a whole seasons worth of interest, hours watching races and have the results fabricated. Most sports have their bones of contention but F1 is absolutely rotten.
