I think he gained the spot against Leclerc. But, given the tire difference, Perez would have passed Leclerc anyway.

Leclrec stood no chance against Perez.
In Saudi GP , Perez lost his race lead when he pitted just before safety car came on - so Its karma making up to Perez.

Maybe the best thing about the weekend (aside from the health of the drivers) - it looks like the Mercs can compete near the front. Hopefully that makes for a great 3-team race for the rest of the season.
Yeah that's what made me the happiest today.

Lewis getting fastest lap is a big deal imo

Best thing was Loois getting on the podium at his home track, also nice to see that twat Max having a bit of bad luck for a change.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching that. apart from that nasty accident. Some really good driving like a Grand Prix should be.
Pleased for the result for Hamilton and Verstappen, lol.

This was a bit under-reported since his car did not flip, and fly over the barriers - but Albon was flown to the hospital from the track for observation, but he reports that he is well, and looking forward to Austria. His collision was head on with the wall, when he got hit from behind.

Whoever made/invented the Halo needs a knighthood!

Also phenomenal race! Easily best one of the season so far. Hamilton would’ve won had it not been for that safety car, such a shame but great race all the same and always nice to see Max struggling with issues and getting in a strop?

Anyone see Hamilton in the cool down room afterwards could barely look at Perez yet he was talking to Sainz and seemingly very happy for him. Didn’t know Perez and Ham had beef unless it’s just that Ham just hates all of red bull lol?

He was chatting to Perez, the mics were on and you could hear him talking to Perez about the Redbull's straight line speed.

What a race! Thank god Zhou and Alex were ok. Jesus those Halos proving themselves to be lifesavers again! Loved seeing some proper racing in the last few laps too & even better seeing Max have some shit luck! Loved seeing Lewis back on the podium.

Turned off after Lewis went into the wall, only to find out George followed moments later...

Tough day for the Mercs, despite showing competitive pace.

Have any teams improved their car as much over the season so far as Haas? Sure, Merc have had to iron out a huge problem, but Haas started with an average car and every session that car looks a little bit faster, a little bit more stable and it's all credit to the mechanics. Doing a solid job there.

Haas much more impressive. They lost a driver and Sponsor just before season. They operate on a shoestring budget. Guenther is one of the really likable characters in the sport.

Parting ways with Mazepin was a blessing in disguise, it can't be easy going in to work each day feeling like everyone is taking the piss, even if it's banter. Kevin comes across as a nice bloke and he's got genuine experience across a few different formulas, so I don't doubt he's had a pretty big impact on the overall atmosphere behind the scenes - more power to them, love seeing a team climb up the ranks.

Toto, keeping the "Howards Way" look alive. That jumper, casually slung across his shoulders and knotted in front - does he think he's on a yacht?

Bet he's wearing loafers...
