Wasn't that the same when Mercedes went for the no side pod design also?

We just need to wait to see what the race pace is for all these cars, just now it's still up in the air on what will be best, like every season.

Oh, I was commenting on the livery, like @Yid-ol says, the technicals will be once they get them on the track.

Red Bull are consistent with their brand though, I didn't expect it to be anything radical really, just... well, y'know, something.

While it's boring thinking that we're in for another season like that, taking the positives away from it, Red Bull are demonstrating what can be done (apparently) within the rules so it's less about them and more about why the other teams aren't able to get similar results. Is it the engineers? The designers? The mechanics? The drivers? It's fine to have a single season freak car & team combination that destroys everything else on the grid but to see it happen three seasons in a row makes you wonder.

I joke about it but they don't have wizards, they don't use alien technology, so on the surface it appears to be a monumental team that's making the absolute best use of what's available to them and everyone else is slacking.

It should be incentive for the other teams to catch up but for whatever reason there is a gulf between what Red Bull have been doing and literally every single other team which makes zero sense really.

The new regs were and are all about aero and not everyone has an Adrian Newey. The guy is an aero wizard and also the only person on the grid who was around when F1 was utilising ground effect downforce.

So they got the concept right from day one and then went over the budget cap developing that concept to put them streets ahead.

They were so far ahead last year that they stopped delivering any upgrades and turned their attention this this years car incredibly early.

There’s arguably 6 months worth of performance upgrades that they’ve carried over from last year that we are only seeing now.

It’s nothing new though. When the last major rule change came in with the hybrid engines we saw Mercedes chuck a shit load of money at it and get it right from day one. They dominated for years until the FIA stepped in to clip their wings.

You can't take ANYTHING away from day 1 of testing, no one is running race spec or close to it, its all data gathering looking at airflow and if its behaving as per their simulations. Merc/Mcl/Ferr might all be sandbagging massively and not wanting RB to know their car is really competitive. Wait till the last 2 hrs of testing and you might get a SLIGHTLY better idea of real world performance.

i agree that its juz preseason testing.......

but it is looking like the fight for 2nd place.

I am hoping we have at least a few different winners next season. but red bull's car not only is showing evolution, but i think their cooling system is done in such a way to overcome their issues in the Singapore GP, I think they might sweep the entire season.

Until drivers accept that Verstappen applies the Senna mindset of get out of my way or we're going to have a crash and just has that crash, Max will continue to be a huge factor in that race too though. Yes, it could be frustrating and end your race early but Max puts himself at as much risk and, maybe, after his approach actually ends up in him not continuing the race, things will chance.

Right now, him dominating is 40% car, 40% skill and 20% reputation - others will kneecap themselves trying to get out of his way because they know that he's not got any plans to avoid a collision.

Call it whatever you like, if it makes people get out of his way and he suffers no consequence it means he'll keep winning. It's a valid tactic while it's not causing DNFs and the rest of the field just keep letting him do it and get out of his way.

First two are on Saturdays because of Ramadan. The Saudi race was originally scheduled to be the day it started so got moved to Saturday, meaning Bahrain also had to be moved to allow for a weeks break
