Yeah not getting time to practice as much recently actually when you mention it.

Sloppy shots creeping in. Might book a lesson soon too.
This may be a bit dated, but it may be worth looking at. Back in the 1980s, Stanford University had a commercial arm which attempted to make money on some of the ideas and inventions that occurred at the university. One of the successful ventures was their Sybervision group which took on learning languages and sports improvement. On the sports side, they had come to the conclusion that holistic actions such as the golf swing can't be effectively learned in a linear fashion since many things have to happen at the same time. So to have a good swing, one had to figure out a way to quiet down the “left” side of the brain so the “right” side of the brain could do its magic. Their findings included that music at a certain tempo would quiet the brain. And if that happened, the viewer could vividly imagine themselves in the body of the subject being videotaped (yes, it was taped, that’s how old it was.) and improve their swing thru visualization. It’s the basketball foul shot psychology test on steroids.

So they put Al Geiberger on tape for an house at various angles with various clubs. You literally just sat there and watched it but focused on putting yourself in his body. I went from an 18 down to a 14 after 10 rounds so there is evidence that it really works and dropped below that over time. A close friend who was a scratch had risen to a 2 and realized what was wrong with his swing after just watching it for 20 minutes (slight wrist cock at the top).

As I recall, golf magazine said it was voted the greatest video of all time By golf instructor and there are still people singing its praises. Now the vote i think was back in the 90s so there may have been videos that have improved upon it. I haven't been able to play for some time but if and when I'm able to again, this will be the first video on the screen. Even with the graininess of the video, it could be helpful. (and you can even test it by hitting the driving range after watching it.)

SyberVision Neuro Muscular Programming - Golf with Al Geiberger (1983 Golf Training VHS) - YouTube

I’d be curious if anyone else had seen it or if someone tries it and gets some kind of result. Cheers

Scheffler is consistently top in strokes gained tee to green but cannot putt worth a shit, so could win the thing even if he putts average this week!
The greens look funky, course looks great. Can't wait. And an Ashes test match this weekend too 🥳

Gutted if Fowler finally wins 1 - missed out on backing him!!!

Always used to…..

Played Knole Park today in a member guest pairs event. Best score counted - we came in with 41 points, had 3 birdies each!

Finished 4th overall!!!!!! - winners scored 49 points. A pair of high handicap ladies lol

49 points! Outrageous.

Nice to see Rickie playing well again. Gutted this going to finish so late on Sunday as it looks like a beast of a course and it should firm up over the next couple of days and be a really good test.

scandalous - even the most points I ever got, back in the day, when I was an absolute bandit sometimes, was 46 points. 49 points is just rude

They gave a little speech at the end, said they should actually have got even more points ffs 🤦‍♂️

Looks like they won't be struggling to break par at this US Open..
All the waffle in the buildup about how hard the rough is. Doesn't matter if the fairways are all 80 foot wide, these guys have no problem with this set up. Intrigued if the greens get tougher as it heats up and dries out, but someone's winning this at -16/-17 at this rate.

The tournament needs the sun to come out, as that will get the winds up and dry the course/greens out.
They also have a bunch of silly areas to place pins in and they haven't gone there...yet.
I reckon they were worried about pace of play too, with the long par 3's and driveable par 4's. A smaller field on Saturday & Sunday will give them a load more sadistic options, and that'll be fun to watch.
I am loving this course though, this layout/land floats my boat much more than the standard Winged Foot type US Open course.

Going out on a limb and saying 12 under wins it. They'll put the brakes on the scoring

I was surprised at some of the pin positions, there were a good few that just fed in off back stops or slopes which gave bigger target areas. They'll definitely toughen those up

Since Fowler is leading I figured we could break out his Sportscenter commercial from a few years ago.

Played a team of 2 competition yesterday with my dad. Went round on my own ball in 80, which was my best round all year, we finished with 40 points in the team event, but we left about 5 or 6 out there.

Probably should have shot 77/78 myself.

Positives anyway, driving the ball a lot better, hit lots of fairways and far more accurate with my irons. Short game just needs some refining now.

Yeah way too late. Annoying.
I’m totally torn on who I want to win. Rory or Rickie ? Rory I’ve come to really appreciate more these last few years. Would be very happy for him to break his barren streak. Rickie though… guy is a super chill and nice dude, this might be his last chance ever to get over the line.

Anyway both of them can win it ? 😂
