I think that Hudd would be better suited to playing in a five man midfield, that way his defensive defficiancies would not be exposed. Can not see Ramos playing that way for the time being, but am happy to give Hudd more time to improve this part of his game.

I've always said that Hudd plays better in a 3 CM formation. He'll more or less be the guy in CM who neither attacks (no pace) nor defends (lack of tackling) but instead be the guy who links midfield and attack with his quick thinking and superb range of passing. His setpieces are not too bad either.

I'd love to see Ramos trying out the 4-5-1, but we would need Bent to stay for him to play the lone striker. Berbs and Keano may not suit that role too well I'm afraid.

This is good news, especially with Fifa and Uefa pushing for the home grown player rules. Yes the 6-5 rule was ridiculous but I can see Platini's idea of a 24 man squad with 8 national players 8 academy players and 8 others could work. Yes EU law is against it, but then why doesn't Ronaldo play for England?

Excellent News-a player of Huddlestone's caliber and flexibility is an asset to any squad.

Ramos, since appointed has used Huddlestone in various positions and often brought him on the change games..ie Carling Cup Final. IMO if the formation is changed Huddlestone is ideal in a 3 man midfield...along with Modric.

Does this now blow the goats credibility as an ITK? Was it something about an 'irate hudd missile on his way out'...

Didn't said goat just say the Hudd had stormed out in a fit of rage? the assumption was then made that he was leaving, it may just have been a strop because he was not allowed his packet of jaffa cakes.

Regarding the Hudd, good news that he has signed, its suggests the powers that be feel he can develop into a good player.

If he can improve his reactions, movement and postioning he might stop being bypassed in the midfield so easily and become a real assest to us.

Yeah that would make sense, I can kinda imagine thudd throwing a strop a bit like kevin from kevin and perry (that's soooo unfair juande, I am NOT your slave).

Glad he's staying tho, if he can be slimmed down even more he could become a real star for us. He already showed he's improving, I can remember him actually beating a player down the wing towards the end of last season!

Selling Huddlestone would've been a huge mistake. This guy has the potential to be one the best central midfielders around. I think this season will be a big one for him.
I would love to see a defensive player next to him with Modric ahead.

Yeah, as has been said above, the Goat just passed on info that Hudd stormed out of an end of season player briefing. It is quite likely that it was related to something else. Possibly a social problem. Maybe with another individual. Not his future at the club. It was reported as an event to have happened without speculation as to its providence, if I recall correctly.

You may also recall that the Goat commented then, all the way back in May, that he near as dammit guaranteed that Berba would be back at The Lodge and still a Spurs player on July 3rd (going against much conventional wisdom at the time), and probably long after.

He ain't so bad, you know. For a goat.

Your cheque's in the mail.

As is the reminder that The Goat only said that we WOULD have signed Cudicini back in January but for the fact that Cech got a knock and Chelsea decided to stick. The situation has since changed and we obviously felt that Gomes was a better shout.

Anyway, I agree that it is a bit unfair that only Mods should know the Goats sources. So, if you come close I'll whisper it in your ear.

Come on. Come close. Lean into the screen. Closer. Yep, nice and close. Press your ear right to the monitor. You won't hear otherwise. That's it. Right up against the monitor. Good stuff. Okay. Are you ready? Here it comes...

*flicks si's ear*

Pillock.
