Great.

I'm sure the Bling boys will be ecstatic. Plenty more parties down Chinawhites for Azza and JJ.

The best part about this 'story' is that we will have one more England player who, all things considered, will be fresh each season, whereas, the other International player will be required for WC and EC every 2 years. Ofcourse, perhaps England will qualify for either in the near future....but probably highly unlikely with the current squad? COYS!

Great news. I'm now anticipating another new contract for Aaaron Lennon. Afterall, we've now signed up O'Hara and Huddlestone, so surely Lennon will follow?

The English spine continues!

O'Hara I think would be sold if the offer was right. I'm not sure what his deal was like before, but I suspect his new contract was to ensure he has a sell on value to the club. The Hudd only signed a 4/12 year deal in Dec 2006, so by offering him a new contract, it proves he is part of Juande's plans. Interestingly, Lennon signed a deal a couple of weeks after the Hudd. So, if he isn't offered new terms soon, then it could suggest Ramos isn't so keen.

Not necessarily - Hudd will be on a new contract at "adult" rates in recognition for becoming a solid member of the squad - Lennon's previous contract will have been a similar step up ie. he is already on a contract on a proper rate, so his next contract review need not be in step with the Hudd.

I am also well chuffed - I really rate Hudd and have high hopes for his future and have been criticised on SC in the past for predicting that he'll become an England midfield regular. I have seen nothing to make me back off from that view - his ability to see and play passes into critical areas is top notch, the rest can be coached. His speed of thought and execution makes up for his lack of raw speed. Great news for the future.

That's probably right actually.

Very encouraging that the club were keen for Hudd to stay...and that he feels sufficiently part of future plans to want to stay.

I am happy about this news. I think he can still improve and plays a position where experience is important. I sometimes think that he along with Lennon suffer because they made their debuts at such an early age and have had a fair amount of playing time. We need to remember how young they still are and that there are bound to be periods of inconsistency and things they need to work on. Huddlestone even more than Lennon (because his game is more based on speed) is still some distance away from his peek. His positioning and decision making should continue to improve. If he gets more consistent in his passing and shooting then he could have a very important role to play.

With a through, and rigorous pre-season he may finally shake off the over-weight promising and inconsistent tags!!!!!!

Really glad when I heard this news. He will be important this season, whether he starts or plays the super-sub role (which he mastered last season).

I think that Hudd would be better suited to playing in a five man midfield, that way his defensive defficiancies would not be exposed. Can not see Ramos playing that way for the time being, but am happy to give Hudd more time to improve this part of his game.

He is a great impact sub and his passing is obviously different class, but I am yet to see him start a game and dominate it; hopefully he can add this to his game as he gets older.

Another indication that Ramos knows what he is talking about. Huddlestone is one of our few touch players. He has vision and an extensive passing range unmatched by anyone else at the club. Hudd is one of the few capable of scoring from distance and donuts aside seems to have few distracting vices. This signing will put a few others under the spotlight in our midfield. Well done Tottenham:wink:
