i was just listening on the radio and they were saying Mark hughes said to bently that he aint going in the summer and he would rather let him rot in e reserves than move so im thinking is that worth doing to berba

Nope. Keeping players against their will is pathetic, if he wants to leave we should get as much money as possible, as soon as possible, to give us more time to get a replacement and let them settle in. I'm hoping the mojority of our transfer dealings, including Berba, are done and dusted before pre season kicks off.

It's really not the end of the world if he goes.

When managers say that it's always an empty threat. plus why would the club want to let their prized asset depreciate & eventually leave for half the price (or even free) after him just playing in the reserves for a year.

There is no need to get spiteful about it, merely say to Berba - "we have you under contract, you are a professional, I'm sure you will do the decent thing and fulfill it, unless somebody meets our valuation - which we will set".

then they leave a year later and score 5 goals against you?

OR

In General, i hate seeing wasted talent (defoe an example) I would rather see them palying more.

If Hughes was clever and Bentley actually did want to go.... they would play him more next year and make him play better, then up the price

Hughes might say that, but can you really see the chairman of the club allowing that to happen with an asset such as Bentley????

At the end of the day, if Hughes owned the club he could sling him into the reserves until the end of his contract, but he doesn't own the club so he will struggle to do that.

Didn't coleman do this to Malbranque?

Yeah, and we ended up getting him super cheap. Rumour was that we got him so cheap that Coleman was too embarrassed to let the press know just how little we got him for.

i thought this comment was specifically aimed at Bentley joining Liverpool (obviously a nod to his ManU roots )
