So zidane resigns. So pleased Poch signed last week otherwise we’d be subject to an endless sea of pundit and newspaper bullshit

Yes but I’m assuming that Poch signing his contract a couple of days before the CL final was not entirely coincidental. If Madrid had lost then Levy was assuming that they might approach him and the new contract was a way of sending them a message. Similar to how he signed his last contract immediately after he was spotted in a restaurant with Ferguson. To send United a message.

Unless of course you are totally cynical and assume that Levy made sure Poch signed a new contract to drive up any compensation in the event of Real knocking .

If Poch had doubts, I don't reckon he'd sign a new long term contract with us. I don't imagine Real Madrid comes knockin'

Whoa there. Hold your horses. You’re jumping to conclusions without understanding what i’ve written. I said if both sides want it, he would go as Madrid have enough money to pay. Which is why the new contract wont kill the speculation.

I believe Poch to be a man of honour. Regardless of how much money they throw at him, it would damage his reputation enormously to walk just a week after signing a 5 year contract. I see no reason to worry at all personally.

I can't see Poch having fun handling a group of prima donnas.

I agree. The Pochettino of 2018 would be a relative disaster at Real Madrid for the first couple of seasons. And we all know that you don't last at Real Madrid under that scenario.

This in on Levy, as long as he buys the right players and backs Poch to the hilt then i see nothing to be worried about. The RM job will come up within 3 years. Really im more worried about Levy now, he has one chance to keep Poch, what he does this summer could have long lasting ramifications.

Methinks Poch will go. Real Madrid will offer Levy a ridiculous amount to buy that contract.
As I said in another thread, they can get someone like Wenger, Conte or Guti (their youth coach) for free. There's no logic in spending a huge amount on a manager when they have an incredible group of players anyway.

We're naturally going to be concerned, but I still don't think Poch is qualified to manage Real yet. They will of course know all about him since we beat them, but at the end of the day, he still has no trophies to his name in his managerial career, he's never even reached a European quarter-final and whilst he wasn't a bad player he was hardly a big name like Zidane that would come in and command respect through his reputation alone.

This is a club that sacks managers like it's nothing, even if they win the title. I'm not at all ruling out Poch going there one day but I'd be surprised if it's now.

Well, if he wants the job, the new contract won't stop him leaving anyway. I don't think he wants to, but maybe he'll use this to put more pressure on Levy to deliver?

You genuinely think / believe that Pochettino, a man who has a reputation as a hard assed manager, who has things done his way or not at all, who is about nothing but unity & togetherness, will jump ship a week after signing the biggest contract in his life, to go and manage a bunch of egotistical primadonna's who would almost certainly start crying as soon as Poch demands they do double sessions because none of them are fit enough for his high tempo pressing style, at a club where it appears the players call the shots?

I'll politely disagree.

Who would want to follow a man who has won three out of three European cups..an ageing squad, superstar player disgruntled and huge expectation...no thanks! Certainly not at Poch's young age. He could become a messiah here...and he knows it too.

Why wouldn't Madrid go all out for Klopp? He plays insane attacking football that their fans love, he's won things in the past. Madrid are a bigger club than Liverpool, I don't get why he's not been linked/wanted by Madrid, am I missing something?
