They shouldn't do because he explicitely says in the "Being brave" comments that it doesn't mean spending crazy money. People never seem to remember that part of the quote though:

"We are thinking now we need to make our new stadium home and we know it will be tough in the beginning to settle there," he told a post-match news conference."

"I have a very clear idea of what we need to do. I don't know if the club will agree with me or not, but we are going to talk next week to create what I think we need to do together to improve."

"Until today it was so difficult to talk about the future, but from now we need to decide the way and how we are going to operate in the future."

"Our fans need to know what we are going to do and our fans need to feel the reality of the club and we need to tell the truth and create a very good expectation we can achieve. We cannot create dreams that we are not going to achieve."

"The first step is to be close and challenge the sides who invest more than us and find a way. We need to think our reality is different and our fans need to think and be happy and support us because we are not a club who will spend crazy money."

"I think Daniel is going to listen to me, but you know sometimes I might have some crazy ideas. With our unbelievable fans, sometimes you need to be brave and take risks. I think the club is in a moment where they need to take risks."
There you go and I don't think that's an issue as we know by and large the model that the club follows. What bugs me is the length of time that it seems to take for incomings and outgoings and how late they are in the window. Granted, some aspects are out of the club's hands at times but I do wonder sometimes whether quibbling over one or two million is a false economy when balanced against the need to get players bedded in quickly and getting points on the board. It's a pity that signings like Modric, which was done early isn't more the norm.

According to Dan Kilpatrick, writer of The Standard piece, she also said "but you'll have to ask Mauricio" on the being brave comment. He said the press staff over there have opportunities coming up to ask him that are better than post match interviews which is all they've had so far and they will ask him to respond then.

I said when we arrived in America that he should have been asked to clarify the being brave comment. I’m amazed nobody has asked him to as of yet.

Sounds like the only press stuff he has done has been prearranged stuff and post game pressers neither of which are the ideal environments to get long clarification, especially since all these matches are ending late. Last year the club organized a private interview between Poch and the traveling press between the 2nd and 3rd games. I bet something similar happens again this year and that would be the best opportunity to get detailed answers from him.

One thing that certainly came out of Poch's chat with Levy was a contract which made him one of the highest paid managers in the country. I think they share similar views on the way forward. Some fans are in panic mode, but that's normal. I expect a couple of decent signings, aided by the continued development of the squad as a unit.

Sure. I'm not just talking this season though plus Chelsea took ages to appoint their manager and I'm wondering whether united might be holding back a bit because Mourinho is looking a bit like he's planning his third season escape.

It's quite ironic as both Chelsea and ManU already have signed player(s). If I were an evil villain called Bane I might have said something like: They merely adapted to the doom and gloom hysteria - we Spurs fans were born in to it.

Yes they are also complaining but the difference is they have both signed players that address their needs.

We are moaning and have signed zero players.

Poch wont be happy at all. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

Have to admit I'd not read the full quote before.

Note to self: read the source, not the headline.

The spin has begun from Cullen then. So fucking predictable. Big predictions from the ITK guys and then a gradual wheeling back as all of the targets prove out of our reach and Cullen comes out with "we always wanted to work with our youth team anyway". Rinse, repeat. As soon as a major job comes up, Poch is gonna be on his way after this shit show of a window. So disappointing.
Hold on there pal, seeing the obvious problems that this disaster of a window could very easily caused isn’t allowed on here!

Mourinho has been backed up to now but the hierarchy must be having their doubts with his recent comments. It's becoming very familiar so they might well be loathe to give him too much in case he leaves. Chelsea did take a fair old while to sort out their managerial situation. Our last minute shenanigans aren't exactly new.

Doesn't strike me as the sort of guy who'd just walk out if he doesn't get what he wants, but equally, if promises were made when convincing him to sign up, and if they aren't delivered on, then it wouldn't come as a surprise if his head is turned by the next big job to come along, he can just point to broken promises as a reason why.
Now, what those promises are is the key point.
Big names, or specific names, or just key areas addressed.
E.g., WF/CF -
Big name - Bale - not happening
Specific Name - martial/Zaha - difficult but possible
Addressed - could be anyone from French league based on recent history - highly probable on last day

I’m more annoyed by the fact we haven’t sold anyone yet. I’d be cool with there being 10 days left having not signed anyone if we had offloaded Sissoko, Jansen, Nkoudou and Lorente.

Well only one of them isn't on the tour and is openly up for sale really.
