Yeah I get that, but I don't see why what the press guy said couldn't be said by Poch, the narrative now is that the oppressive club won't let the press ask Poch questions he'd love to answer.
Let them ask, let Poch tell them he's already answered the question last week...next question?
These press guys get to ask very few questions, 1 maybe 2 each...they'll stop asking about it when they realise they're wasting their questions.
My main point was the notion of banning certain press outlets is a bit daft really.
Asking Poch to comment on something Les Reed said on a TV show the night before, in a press conference regarding our upcoming match against Everton, was stupid...but we could've handled it better imo.

It's all part of managing the brand. There is no way on Earth that Poch can directly address the Man U job situation without it being spun. None.

The press officer smacking down the utter shitehawk from Sky was the best course of action to take, hands down, because there were no words the press could then put into Poch's mouth. The only story they were left with was: "waaaah, the press officer was nasty to us! Waaaaaah!"

Us and Pool were in a similar situation but just look at the investment they've had and you see them flying at the moment. Maybe Poch is looking at them a little envious. Come on levy put some zip in the project, or he might be off.

They're not much higher than us and we're playing away from home still (not much longer mind), and still in all cups. I'm not sure Poch is envious.

Absolutely. But the headline was about Spurs, not about Poch. And it sent a strong message that we are focused on ourselves and we're not in the business of feeding speculation. That is precisely the message that needs to be sent right now. Let the media know we're not interested in this story and we're not going to allow them to use every press interaction to feed a narrative we have no interest in following.

But make no mistake he is their number 1 choice and has been since before they gave it to Maureen.

They will do what ever it takes and give him as much power as he wants to do what he wants. Despite their recent history with managers they aren’t Real Madrid.

Almost but I think it more likely they will promise but not deliver. From what I know from Utd fanatics, the board were always unhappy with the amount of power Fergie had but couldn't do anything. They jumped on the chance to fix it from the day he resigned. Since then they have promised full control to every manager including Moyes, LVG and Jose but kept jumping in and not letting them do their jobs.

If what the ITK were saying before about Poch wanting to build a dynasty, he will not go there. He isn't stupid and the interference from the board is starting to gain attention since Mourinho is quite vocal

Nope, he was on his way out(Due to the Cortese sacking and key players being sold by the board) but Daniel got in first to obtain his services.

Just reading this and I realise I've not understood the true significance of the five year contract we've given him, he's right, managers don't get that kind of contract, what we've said to him is that we have complete faith in him and his project which is exactly what he asked for.
What we need to do now, Mr Levy, is up the anti, I'm sure we started that in the summer with his contract and the increased contracts to players although we didn't do what I thought we'd do and bring in the players to improve us, I'm more and more convinced that the stadium problems took our focus off that target so I'm hopeful we'll pick that baton up in the new year and carry it beyond.
Overall that interview gives me the impression he feels we are really on the springboard and just about to take off, it certainly doesn't sound like the end of the road and that is not accidental, Poch is a clever guy and knows exactly what he's saying and the message he wants to convey. Another thing occurs to me, why would you give SSN a one to one interview, I'd have told them to bugger off but then I'm a dumb schmuk, this is obviously the quid pro quo, we give them the interview and they stop asking the question.

That's ok my bubble is perfectly intact and has withstood your difference of opinion, either way it is a show of faith in him as Daniel Levy wouldn't want to have to honour a five year contract if he was thinking of sacking him, in that case I reckon he would have plumped for a standard three year contract.

Why the negativity?

Haven’t we just beaten Arsenal in a key match to progress to the semis of the League Cup ? Haven’t we just thrashed Chelsea at Chelsea ? What more has Poch to do to stop such negative posts as yours ?
