Look Poch has worked miracles for us there is really no doubt about that, no other manager possibly in our history has overachieved with the resources they have had in comparison to him. He’s steadily improved us in many ways and he’s improved as a manager. It’s is a weird one that we keep getting stuck at semi finals, some blame will lie with poch’s Tactics and team selection but mainly it’s just because in those crunch games our players aren’t good enough, we are getting so so close and if we’d had son dele and Kane we’d possibly have gone through but these are the fine margins against the top4 big spenders and as an earlier poster said the reality is we aren’t quite there yet. The thing that is hard to swallow is the timing of it, will Poch stay another 3-5 years to a point where we may just about be able to tip the balance in our favour and win things or will he say enough is enough?

On one hand it’s worrying that Toby will go, possibly Eriksen, Lloris May look to move at some point and then there is Kane who if we aren’t close enough to winning things will have a big decision on his hands. But on the other hand if we re-invest well like we have done with for example Sanchez and Foyth etc then we should be able to hopefully sustain our current level and when we are finally In a position to open the chequebook a bit to get those mabye 2 top top quality players we lack then we will be there but right now it’s still so hard to compete.

COYS.

To be honest, if we carry out that business, we won’t really make progress imo.

This side doesn’t need more unproven players, we need someone who can make the difference if we are to actually go forwards.
I think that Sessegnon could have the same impact under Poch as Alli or Jadon Sancho

Mauricio Pochettino was asked again by the media if any transfer activity is expected at Tottenham.
He said: “We are working on a few options, we will see if we are capable to deliver it."

No doubt Rabiot is absolutely one of them.

Definitely more positive than he was last week. Let's hope they deliver the goods.

"Of course, if you win, OK. But if you don’t win, maybe you need a different way to operate."

This is the most telling quote for me.

Basically saying what we’re doing right now with our transfer policy is not working and it needs to change.

I really hope something can change because I’d hate to see Poch move on to a club where he will be backed.

Agree, but I’ve given up attempting to analyse Poch’s quotes. He seems to flip-flop like a flippy-floppy thing.

Love to think Poch is reading this thread, whilst giving it the full Escobar on a mb to his staff. "Yes, we'll score a goal on him. Yes, him too. Send a message". He's already built his own spec training ground, so the signs are all there. Imo, we didn't lose last night due to tactics, formations or "bottle". Was simply that there was negligible and/or sporadic goal threat, which is understandable bearing in mind who was missing from the team. That's the real problem. The gap in quality between the first XI and who we have as options to come in. How and if we address that in the Summer and beyond is the key, although it's equally unlikely that we will have this volume of injuries to our best players again. Moreover, can we afford to have better back ups on the bench accounting for costs involved, and what this would mean for academy prospects. All a bit complex really.

I think the message is quite consistent, he wants us to spend some money. I think there a very good chance he will go to United in the summer.

More quotes...

"I am more than open to improve and to add players to the squad. You can find on the internet or my previous press conferences that I always say the same thing.

"If we can find the right player that is going to help us improve, then we will...but we were never close. There is always a chance. We have still seven days [of the transfer window].

"We have more spaces because Dembele has gone, but we have to be careful.

"We are always open to try to add quality.

"We have plenty of young players who can play and cover some space."

Hmm. That's actually less positive than the shorter version. Ah, well, what will be will be.

Sounds like exactly the same info we have now heard as recently as Wednesday (I think) this week.

Always the same.

Wouldn’t surprise me, but then on the subject of his future he again seems to deviate. Although of course I’m aware that the press can twist things to whatever slant they wish that particular week.

Hes on about the squad places because we had to leave Foyth off in the fall. I dont understand why we cant just leave Vorm off but oh well. We wont be signing an english player that would come now so there’s this window sorted.

He will be off this summer and we’ll have no one to blame but Levy. Of course some people will have a shit fit with all the levy blaming though. Our future should be bright but it just looks dimmer by the day. Be ready for likely Howe and 5th or 6th place again for a while until ENIC finally fucks off.

Sounds to me like it's basically either buying a foreign player not for the CL or an English player (because God forbid we don't have 3 GKs for two knockout games and Foyth desperately has to be in the CL squad despite basically zero chance of playing).

I guess reading between the lines Foyth was promised that should a CL spot become available he'd be next in line, and that to break that promise would probably see him lose faith and want to look elsewhere.
