Everyone is assuming his comments are about Spurs.

My reading of the situation is that his goal at Spurs was to win the Champions League. If he wins it this year then he has achieved his goal and will consider moving on to a new “project”.

Anyone who thinks that Poch is a “Spurs” man is deluded. Poch has two clubs he loves. Everyone else is just a job. He has no interest in being our Fergie and building a dynasty to last a couple of decades.

I don’t have a problem with this personally. Most players and Managers are like that the world over and fans delude themselves into thinking otherwise.

The problem I do have is that he makes utterly stupid comments and doesn’t learn from his mistakes. Finishing above Arsenal isn’t important. Winning trophies is just ego and doesn’t matter (specifically domestic trophies it seems) etc.

I hope this one doesn’t backfire too.

Great quotes. He just wants to know what the next objective of the club is so he knows what he’s working towards. I really don’t get the negativity.

The way I see it, we’ve had a set plan with set goals over the last few years while the stadium was being built. It’s very clear our goal has always been to consolidate our status as a top four club.

We have not only done that over the last four years, but we’ve challenged for the title, and now we are challenging for the champions league (fuck I still can’t quite believe that.)

Poch has done that, now he wants to know how we achieve the next step. He said himself, it’s not about spending more money, or less money. It’s about the plan, the way we want to do it and likely more importantly, what we want to achieve.

I remember some itk we had last season that said we were ahead of schedule with out team, we didn’t plan on challenging for titles until after the stadium was delivered. Well obviously that plan is now complete, that chapter is over.

Poch, like all of us, is eager to see what that next chapter is.

I think I am going to add to nedley's post above, I believe Joe Lewis is the man to be brought on board with the new model though I also believe he will be and Poch has started a process that will send the message to players out there who may be on our list that our ambition is serious. I have always thought our summer transfer window and winter one for that matter, was derailed by the stadium situation which took Daniel Levy's entire attention, this summer he can and will have the freedom to back Pochottino completely. The fact that Poch is talking about it is, in my opinion, positive.

Yeah, I have long suspected that our inactivity last summer was as much to do with the stadium uncertainty as anything else. Levy has always been very shrewd in his dealings, he’s watched what other clubs do and he’s adapted our plans when he has seen their failures. Look how different our stadium is to Arsenal’s soulless bowl for example. I’d like to think he’s structured our financial arrangements taking into account their failings there too.

Reckon Poch will get the all the backing he could hope for this summer.

Poch knows Levy isn’t going to change. He has said he’d be stupid to stay if the situation doesn’t change. He knows the situation isn’t going to change. If anything it’s going to get worse, as we have a stadium to pay off.

From what I understand , he wants to bring us to go further, a level higher...pretty much like what Liverpool is doing this year, rather than happy with top 4, like Arsenal. He wants to challenge for the championship. He no longer wants to challenge top 4, which is something he has already done in the past few years. He has no interest just to finish top 4. He wants harder challenge. harder challenge requires better players and more investment. That's his ambition now. If Levy only just wants top 4 everything year, spend the least but keep top 4, play CL, then Poch will leave. He wants better and bigger than that.

I think this is probably what has happened. Now Poch is in a place of real strength, he wants to put big pressure on Levy.
But Levy won't change. If Poch is serious, this is only ending one way, and we'd better all start thinking about who we'd like to replace him.

Sounds grim. At least him and any other departing will leave everything out on the pitch against The Entitled Ones.

Its obvious what he is saying.

We cant play the little Tottenham punching above our weight card anymore to justify not going all in for the big prizes.
We are Champions League finalists, have the best stadium in the world, the best facilities, and a side boasting the biggest names in football.

Everything has changed. Time to level up.
This post is spot on in my opinion.

Selfish.

We laugh at other people in football doing this sort of shit.

Fuck all need to do this in my opinion.

The worrying thing would be if he does leave, that would be a clear indication that Levy is happy being the also rans.

Without the best manager to work with restrictions, that's us basically admitting this is as good as its going to get. I think Poch is forcing Levys hand here. Without backing him this summer, Poch leaves and there is an absolute mutiny within the fanbase.

I hope that part of what Poch wants to see being run differently at Spurs going forward is our attitude to paying agents in order to get transfer deals done.

I think our previously reported refusals to play the (admittedly pretty loathsome) game with some of the greedier agents has probably been a false economy and stopped us from signing players whose additional benefit to the club would be worth more than the costs of greasing the wheels to get the transfer done.

After Poch's comments I'm hoping that recognising this false economy and then going to the same lengths with agents as our competitors do in order to get a deal done is one of the things that the club will change its old way of operating on starting from this summer.

If you watch the whole presser and not just read the articles/watch the clips you should have nada to worry about IMO.

I think it shows he actually cares about our club, I mean really cares. We’ve had so many managers or managers in general that have been too happy to play the game, pay lip service take the money, not really question the direction. If it doesn’t work, take the pay out and move onto the next thing. I know he’s got the platform to do it now but you can tell it means far more to him than most.

Precisely which then as supporters - what the hell do we do... how can we support a club who dont want to progress? why invest hard earned cash? I love the club but if anything goes down this summer, it would make a lot of people question why bother including the players...

If Poch leaves it isnt just about him leaving, it will be a signal that we have no ambition and it aint going to get any better...
